Though I featured here some videos of the fascist chants of the 70,000 “celebrants” at Jerusalem Day, this new video shows the nadir of Nazi-like hate even more starkly. These are not human beings, let alone Jews. They are savage animals seeking to tear their prey limb from limb. For those who’ve seen the original Frankenstein film, they are the monster bent on revenge against his tormentors. The difference is that you feel some empathy for the Boris Karloff’s protagonist, considering the hatred and suffering inflicted on him by the villagers. In this case, you only feel disgust and revulsion.
The second video above has English captions. The chant, “Shuafat will go up in flames,” is a reference to settlers who kidnapped a young Palestinian boy, Mohamed Abu Khdeir, took him to a deserted Jerusalem forest, forced him to drink gasoline, doused him with more gasoline, then set him on fire. They burned him to death, then escaped. Police released a disgusting homophobic claim that the boy had been murdered by his own family because he was gay. Anything to deflect from the real killers, settler thugs. This what these monsters are celebrating.
One of the chants in the original (first) video above is edited out of the second, and is worth highlighting. It is a bowdlerized quotation from the Book of Judges. In it Samson, shorn of his hair and his strength by the Philistine honey pot, Delilah, is blinded and chained by his enemies They parade him in shame before revelers at a Philistine banquet. Then, he appeals to God to restore his strength for one final suicidal act of vengeance, in which he plans to topple the pillars of the temple and kill everyone in it (and himself). The original verse is:
“Lord, remember me, I pray! Strengthen me just this once, O God, that I may with one blow take vengeance on the Philistines for my two eyes.”
These Jerusalem Day Judeo-terrorists-in-the-making change the word “Philistines” to “Palestinians.” As if to leave no doubt, they add a phrase only used to curse the worst historic enemies of the Jewish people, chiefly Adolf Hitler. They chant: “May their [Palestinian] name and [any] memory [of them] be erased.” It is the ultimate invective a Jew can hurl at an enemy.
Appeal to Diaspora Jews
To my fellow American Jews: is that what you’ve allied yourself with? Is this the Israel you dreamed of? I know it’s not the one I envisioned for the 35 years I was a liberal Zionist. Lift the scales off your eyes and see it for what it has become. It is an abomination. A chilul Hashem (“desecration of God’s name) in traditional parlance.
Do not ever make the mistake of believing that these “revelers” represent only themselves; or that they are a small extremist fringe. They ARE the State. They ARE Israel. If they were not, the government would have prohibited the march. By permitting it, Naftali Bennett gave a state-sponsored imprimatur to the violence. If they were not, Israeli voters would defeat the politicians who pander to this hate in return for votes. Instead, they vote for them in sufficient numbers to permit them to control the Knesset with a right-wing stranglehold. Nor must you make the mistake of believing, by some miracle, that Israel can be reformed or that there remains a chance for a Great (LIberal Zionist) White Hope, who will arise and smite the right-wing fascists and return Israel to its “humane” liberal Zionist past. Stop viewing Haaretz as a comforting reminder that Israeli liberalism is not dead; and see it instead for what it really is: a fig leaf pasted over the ugliness at the heart of this country.
This faded dream will never be. Rid your mind of it as even a faint possibility. Wake up. See with your own two eyes this State of Hate Israel has become. Turn away from it. Either that, or become a part of it. Be linked to its crimes as an accessory. There are only two choices. There is no middle ground. Either break with the Israel this state has become or be tainted forever with its Judeo-fascist stench.
Stop with equivocations and apologetics: Israel has not become this way because of its enemies. No one, not even rivals or enemies, forces a state to become cruel and homicidal. These are choices made by the nation itself. Choices they must own, no matter how much they plead victimhood.
Though I am very angry, I am also deeply sad. Israel has always meant a great deal to me. As I’ve written, all the way back to 1967, when I attended my first Israel rally at UN Plaza in New York, at which tens of thousands of Jews prayed for Israel’s survival during what we then called the Six-Day War, I have been a lover of Zion. While I was always a liberal Zionist critic of Israel’s excesses, the love remained powerful. The vision and hope remained strong.
But over the past 20 years, I was mugged by Israeli reality. In the 1980s, Meir Kahane became the champion of a rising Judeo-fascist movement. Though Israeli outlawed his political party, it had already made a Faustian pact with the settler movement. The latter grew in power and morphed into the dominant political movement in Israel. It took over all the levers of power including the judiciary, police, media and even academia.
There wasn’t any one moment of crisis when I realized I had to turn away from my earlier beliefs. It was a gradual process of alienation from what Israel had become. It was only then that I could re-examine everything I knew about Zionist history to understand that Israel did not suddenly become a fascist state. But that the seeds had been planted a century or more earlier at the very outset of the Zionist movement.
yes you are right Richard but Zionism was always flawed except we did not realise it.
I too was enthusiastic in 1967 aged 14 but within 2 years I had woken up to the reality. Today as you say these Judeo Nazis represent Israel and it was, let us not forget, a Labour Zionist Minister Omar Bar Lev who gave them permission to hold their pogrom
these Zionists are on a road to nowhere, dripping with blood unfortunately…as a settler colonial State and above all a racist endeavor ( filled with hate, supremacy, religious zealousness and division etc etc) their crimes are only mounting up…and ultimately they have no end game regarding the Palestinians who already outnumber them ( from the river to the sea that is )…apartheid Israel ( Zionism ) has survived longer than apartheid South Africa ( Afrikaner Nationalism ), but will ultimately end up in the dustbin of history
not if myriam adelson has a say in it
At one point they scream “Shuafat on fire” which I think would be lost on most viewers. They are referring to 2014 when Muhammad Abu Khdeir, of the Shuafat neighborhood was burned to death by several Israeli Jews. Nazi levels of hatred.
I hadn’t made that connection
Israel’s media has forcefully condemned the Flag Day extremists, as it should.

@ Judah: I don’t know how many times, and how many ways I need to say this: a media denunciation or a politician expressing conern; or someone saying “this doesn’t represent us” doesn’t amount to a hill of beans in this world (sorry, Casablanca, showing my age). They can condemn till the cows come home. But until they offer Palestinians full & equal rights to Jews, this will go on (and get far worse) forever. The only way to do this is via a single state. They’ve closed off the possbility of a 2 state solution if there ever was one.
But stop trying to virtue signal regarding this pogrom. You can’t separate yourself from these thugs. They are you, whether you accept or admit it.
hate to burst your bubble, this virulent show off is just the icing on the cake
most jews never less than 80% will profess hate – at the top of the list anything arab
then you can take your pick at any country.
knowing how pervasive was religion in common day life at the start of the 20th century and how that religion put the jews in a separate and eventually conflicting path with the rest of the citizens of whatever country they lived in.
within the “religion” separation there was a philosophy of hate, that persists to this day.
i know i live with one descendant of holocaust bygonesl, and to this day you name Russia/Germany/Poland and you can feel her heart beat rise.
and this feeling is pandemic within the jewish religion (ashkenaz) a bit less for other origin jews but nonetheless l hate for l their root countries
so nothing has abated, i know you will say there are many living in germany those are few and far in between and yet even those at times are not easily pardoned for that.
just in case i am rebutted, the EXCEPTION, must be mentioned — MARROCCO
Absolutely disagree, most Jews in Israel from Western countries (USA, Britain, France, south America, etc) bear no hate for their former countries. In fact the hate only exists where Jews suffered from pogroms and intense anti-semitism, and understandably so.
In Israel I don’t think the Jews hate Arabs more than the reverse, each claiming hatred because of the violence each feels they have suffered by the hands of the other. I would even dare to say that the mutual hatred is born of fear.
The flag march was a show of fear, a person who is comfortable in his mind has no need to show strength by force. These marchers prove that the other 364 days Israel does not rule in those areas. If gay people had rights and were accepted completely into society there would be no need for pride parades. Same for these fascists who are scared into hating Arabs.
please read carefully, i mentioned, a)ashkenaz – those are normally from eastern europe/russia/poland etc — b) mostly from arab countries, except Marrocco.
Nowhere did i mention western hemisphere, so no dont disagree, study the initial israel citizenry aliot origin and most bear no love lost with their land of origin
jews dont hate arabs, are you sure, are you really really sure,
let’s be more brute
jews hate jews
the ultra orthodox hate between sects, the ultra.. hate the others, AND WOMEN
just listen how easy they use the word NAZI. and to whom it is addressed, shall i go on
i’ll go one further
SHOW ME A RELIGION BESIDES JUDAISM THAT MAKES IT SO IMPOSSIBLE TO JOIN, just one, when someone goes as far as to demand the use of dna to prove ancestry, makes my stomach churn
Those that ran, that had to run from persecution could well hate. Arabs also hate for the same reason. At least some of us can understand that, see that.
Thing is the hate gets passed on and down the generations until it becomes part of the constellation in of being Jewish i.e. hating Arabs.
Richard, this is quite strong. You have had it with Israel. Yes. Israel is not going to be what we want it to be. There is no political force in Israel that gives cause for any hope. I agree about Haaretz. I think the future of Judaism, it’s growth and relevance must (hopefully) be coming from the diaspora where people still are and want to be Jewish, but not that, nor identified with that. Unfortunately it all goes under the name of Judaism.Even then you have to fight Judeofascists and ultras to claim your identity to belong.. belong to what?
The diaspora actually, in diaspora, I think, is, holds, the essence of Judaism, it’s evolution and relevance.
[comment deleted: this is a hasbara-free zone. But not only is your comment hasbara. It’s completely false and contrary to historical record. Your prejudices are not facts.]
[comment deleted: Nope. Prove you can post something other than old, stale hasbara I’ve rebutted a few hundred times here over the past 20 yrs. Ppl like you think that the drivel you pass off as “analysis” is original to you. But it has been thought of, and articulated literally thousands of times before. And by hasbarists even more adept than you at presenting it. So if you think I’m going to waste my time for the 1001st time with you, you’ve got another thing coming. .
