DOJ Accuses University of Anti-Semitism for Off-Campus Bake Sale

Tonight, another in a long line of shameful, embarrassing “firsts” for the Department of Justice.  DOJ is initiating a civil rights investigation into the University of Washington.  The charge?  A group with no school affiliation is hosting an off-campus  bake sale on behalf of Lebanon. You read that right, a bake sale.  That constitutes some dangerous anti-Semitism rife on campus.  Threatening all Jewish students.

This action is the brainchild of the chief of the DOJ civil rights division, Harmeet Dhillon.  She has made it her mission to dismantle actual civil rights and replace them with white rights.  She is a white supremacist of the law.  Dhillon has filed multiple similar cases against major universities throughout the country.  She’s also championed court cases demanding election ballots from several states.  Thus far, all have failed.  Nor have the university investigations amounted to anything.  Her real purpose seems to be to make Trump happy.

This is part of the MAGA campaign to destroy US academic institutions, something that would have been unheard of as recently as a decade ago. Indeed, our universities have been the crown jewel of American democracy as long as the Republic has existed.  Yet this is the bile spewed by no less than JD Vance:

JD Vance said in a 2021 speech titled “The Universities are the enemy,” that “we have to honestly and aggressively attack the universities in this country.” He never mentioned antisemitism.

It is of course ironic that Dhillon’s become a campaigner against campus anti-Semitism. During her student days at Dartmouth she railed–in the right-wing Dartmouth Review which she edited–against its (Jewish) president, James Freedman, portraying him as Hitler.  Now that’s real anti-Semitism.

The local origin of the UW investigation has the hallmarks of a local MAGA pro-Israel media influencer who specializes in Project Veritas-style political theater. (More below).

The group is SUPER UW which, despite the “UW” in its name, no longer has any affiliation with the University.  The bake sale is sponsored by it, along with two other local student groups. Here is the Instagram post.  It advertises a film screening with sale of food and merch. Sure looks like terrorism to me.

DOJ couldn’t engage in this nonsense without the help of local “enforcers.” A likely suspect is Ari Hoffman, a MAGA shock-jock with a radio show. He was one of the first to celebrate the investigation on Facebook and in a MAGA publication, only hours after the DOJ announced it. His show features his rants about leftists, Muslims, terrorists, abortionists, feminazis, trannies, etc. He promotes a manufactured version of anti-Semitism; which actually has nothing to do with the age old hatred of Jews.  It’s a fake claim that Zionism and Judaism are the same. Attack the former and you’ve attacked Jews everywhere. Hoffman is a Zionist, and a particularly rabid one at that.  He’s the chief of police of the local anti-Semitism squad.

Most recently, he pressured University President Robert Jones to fire Prof. Aria Fani as director of the Middle East Center.  The Dean overseeing the Center dutifully did so two weeks after Hoffman met with Jones.

Among the false claims offered by Zionist mob is that the fundraiser will support terrorism. Specifically, Hezbollah.  However, SUPER’s Instagram account says the funds will support the “Lebanese resistance.”  The smearmongers interpret resistance as terrorism. But of course the word can take many forms which have nothing to do with violence. Among them, spiritual resistance, non-violent resistance, political resistance, etc. In fact, this screenshot lists the beneficiaries. Not a terrorist group among them.

The national free speech NGO, FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression ), released this statement protesting the investigation:

Holding UW responsible for the actions of an off-campus group would stretch federal civil rights law far past its lawful bounds. The federal government is not empowered to demand universities serve as roving monitors of private off-campus expression, and it recognized as much in its 2020 Title IX regulations.

The Supreme Court likewise made clear that institutional responsibility relies on control over the actors and the setting. UW has no such control over an off-campus bake sale. Unless there are other allegations, this investigation should end.

Hoffman and the DOJ’s real target is not SUPER or its student members.  Rather it is the entire University, including its federal funding.  They seek to turn the school into a cardboard version of an institution of higher learning, in which MAGA betes noire subjects are eradicated from the curriculum.  It represents the closing of the American mind to ideas they deem offensive.

Our universities represent the highest achievements of our nation as I wrote above.  These sham investigations are the shame of the world, in which knowledge and learning are reduced to pure propaganda.  It is one of the hallmarks of fascism.

Hoffman’s agenda is straight out of a radical right-wing interpretation of Jewish law, which champions traditional “Judeo-Christian” values.  No to homosexuality, transsexuality, Muslims, women’s rights, civil rights, and of course the Democratic Party.   Yes to Israel, Zionism, Islamophobia, Judeo-supremacy, apartheid, and genocide.  Needless to say, this is not what the vast majority of American Jews believe.  In fact, only 37% say they are Zionist.

Given that the DOJ has pissed on our Constitutional rights, the only remaining institution protecting that last vestige is the courts.  Neither DOJ nor Hoffman believe the First Amendment applies to leftist “agitators,” Marxists, and terror sympathizers.  If they had their way, they’d eradicate it. Though perhaps it is useful in protecting themselves, so they can bellyache when their speech is challenged.

So to recap, the DOJ, once a respected bastion of American justice, is claiming that the UW is fostering anti-Semitism because an ex-student group, is holding an off-campus film screening to benefit victims of Israeli genocide.  Why is that anti-Semitic? Because any criticism of Israel, any defense of its victims is hatred of all Jews everywhere. If that sounds outlandish, that’s because it is.

That’s what our justice has been reduced to: chasing phantoms and illusions on behalf of some perverted Zionist version of justice.  Do we really want our country run by such hooligans, whether in Washington DC or Seattle?  Do we want our presidents dragged into unwinnable wars by Israel?  Do we want our politics bought and paid for by the Israel Lobby?  Do we want our professors spouting MAGA talking points as part of the academic curriculum? Do we want them muzzled, censored?  Prohibited from addressing any issue in the classroom deemed woke or DEI?  Do we want our higher education system to become the laughingstock of the world?
