  1. “Advisors” to the president when Democrats mattered: from Harry Truman to Lyndon Johnson: … Clark Clifford – Abe Feinberg – Arthur Krim – Abe Fortas. Shaping US policy towards Israel and the Arab states. Dare call it the Israel lobby

  2.  “But in all cases, those who traveled to Israel were expected, sometimes even directed, to return home and utilize the government briefings in order to promote Israeli interests in the U.S. That constitutes lobbying for a foreign state under FARA.”

So most of the Israeli grant money went to transport and lodge foreign guests in Israel where the foreign guests get the usual pro-Zionist spiel.
So what? Israel has been doing that for decades using tour guides, kibbutz leaders, soldiers, etc.

If an American Congressman gets a free junket to Israel, and he returns to America, infused with Zionism, does Congressman have to register as a foreign agent under FARA.
    No he does not.

But some, yet unnamed, ‘legal scholars’ think these American college kids, also visiting Israel on junkets, they are now foreign agents?

Do you really think any United States Justice Department is going to surveil these kids, pay confidential informants, wiretap, set up ‘stings’, and ultimately arrest them, en masse, for violating FARA?
Sorry, bubba. Not happening. Keep dreaming.

“It was the IAF that in 2014 connected a South Carolina politician with an Israeli legal scholar who drafted the first bill to ban state agencies from contracting with entities that boycott Israel”.

Eugene Kantorovich is not really an ‘Israeli legal scholar’.
He is an American legal scholar, raised and educated in the United States, where he currently works as an educator. Eugene moved his family moved to Israel for a brief period, but returned to the United States soon after.

Here is his CV, if you don’t believe me.

    I’m a crybaby?

I told that truth, that Reinoehl assassinated Danielson, and you censored me.
What on earth does that make you?

I said ‘assassination’, and now there’s video supporting ‘assassination’.

“In one chilling detail contained in the affidavit, a Portland police detective wrote that surveillance footage showed Reinoehl looking back toward Danielson and walking into a garage entryway to conceal himself as he watched Danielson walk by. Danielson is seen on the camera walking by, apparently holding a can in his right hand and an expandable baton in his left. Seconds after he passes, Reinoehl emerges, reaching toward his waist. Shortly after, the detective writes, the gunfire rang out but the shooting was not captured on the video.”

    1. @ Scarabian: OK, as usual, let’s clean up the mess you’ve made of things.

The key point you are missing is that the Israeli government paid for these trips. Not a U.S. Israel Lobby group. A foreign government which pays a U.S. citizen or group to lobby on its behalf is a foreign agent. So every Israel Lobby group receiving official government money is a foreign agent as well.

Other trips paid for by money from U.S. groups (including those Congressional junkets) are kosher, no matter how odious their intent is.

some, yet unnamed, ‘legal scholars’ think these American college kids, also visiting Israel on junkets, they are now foreign agents?

Nope, remember I said to read EVERY LINK in my post BEFORE you comment. Had you done so you would’ve known that actual named U.S. tax lawyers who are experts in non-profit law and taxation all called this outrageous and said the groups were foreign agents and should register under FARA. They are listed clearly in the Forward article.

Do you really think any United States Justice Department is going to surveil these kids, pay confidential informants, wiretap, set up ‘stings’, and ultimately arrest them, en masse, for violating FARA?

Again, nope. FARA violations aren’t national security violations. Nobody will die as a result. But they do degrade democracy just as Russian meddling degraded our 2016 election. And those lawyers said that FARA violations may be rectified simply by filing as a foreign agent. There are generally no penalties unless you’re being investigated for more serious crimes as Flynn was. But the sheer chutzpah here is that these groups are refusing even to register, even though there is no penalty involved for changing one’s status. They simply refuse to admit what they are. And they need to be forced to do so. And at some point in the not too distant future, they will. This post now has 700 Facebook Likes and scores of Twitter Likes. It has resonated. From there, it will be a short jump till it resonates with progressive members of Congress who will take notice.

Eugene Kantorovich [sic] is not really an ‘Israeli legal scholar’.

I’m afraid you’re going to have to talk to JPost about that error. Not surprising how sloppy they are. But the fact that Kontrovich, who is a far right wing law professor, found a cozy home in Israel indicates where his bread is buttered, both financially and politically.

When I say you are done in a thread, that means you may not comment in this thread about a different one. Comments must address the topic of the post. Any other content is off-topic and not acceptable. This is another comment violation. You have been warned…

Again, you are now done in this thread. Do not publish anything about this post or thread in another one.

  3. Bobby Kennedy, when AG of the USA, worked very hard to force the Israel Lobby to register with the Foreign Agents Registration Act without success and his efforts ended with the assassination of his brother, President John F Kennedy!
