  1. While it is true that this nutter resembles most religious nutters, I note that you only post things about Jews and Israelis that you find bad. There seems no instance I can recall when those who would destroy the state of Israel ever get a glance from you. If I am wrong, can you please show us all some examples?

  2. I don’t in any way endorse that rabbi’s POV, but it’s interesting that the efforts of the New Orleans authorities to get the few stubborn holdouts to leave their flood-inundated homes vaguely echoes the Gaza pullout…and pretty soon the National Guard is going to get tough and pull people kicking and screaming if necessary. Just an observation…

  3. Nzuckerman: I find it interesting that with 200 posts here written exclusively about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that you would make the gross generalization that none of them speak well of Israel or poorly of the Palestinians who wish ill for Israel. I’m not going to do yr. homework for you so if you’d care to search for posts you’ll find them (click on the Mideast Peace category in my sidebar).

Besides, I don’t see it as my role to cheerlead for either the Palestinians or Israelis. But since I am Jewish and a progressive Zionist, naturally my passion is for Israeli culture, society and politics. Tell me, by the way, are you as unhappy with Amos, Hosea, Isaiah, Jeremiah, et al who also spoke harshly at times about their compatriots? My critique of Israel contains some of that passion, agony and fury shared with our Prophets.

Do you worry that Israel is so weak that it cannot withstand well-meaning criticism? I think it can. I think such criticism is critical to the proper functioning of a democratic society. And by the way, I am equally harsh in my denunciation of things that are wrong here in the U.S. AND within Palestinian society.
