Tikkun Magazine 25th anniversary awardees
Rabbi Michael Lerner’s Tikkun Magazine held a gala celebration of its 25th anniversary and honored Judge Richard Goldstone, author of the UN’s Gaza human rights report, on March 14th at UC Berkeley. Tikkun bestowed the the award on Goldstone and other distinguished Muslim, Hispanic and Jewish human rights activists. Among them were Naomi Newman, founder of the Traveling Jewish Theater and Hon. Raul Grijalva.
Tikkun has played an extraordinary role during its lifetime in the cultural, political and intellectual life of American Jewry. I join in celebrating its important achievements.
I apologize for not getting word of this important event to my readers before it happened. I’m certain it was well-attended and I would’ve love to have been there. Unfortunately, I’ve been a bit distracted by the Rachel Neuwirth libel trial which gets underway in a few days.

What a pity the celebrations had to end in the vandalization of Rabbi Lerner’s home. He’s been vandalized three times now over his support for Judge Goldstone. Have any arrests ever been made? Or doesn’t America go after Jewish American terrorists?

If I were him I’d mount video cameras around my home & allow the police to catch these idiots & prosecute them. Unless the police are as incompetent & uncaring as the Seattle Police Dept. when their residents’ lives are threatened.

MY COMMENT: I would certainly make a modest contribution towards a fund to do something like this.
P.S. Also, I think Tikkun, JVP and others should apply for some of the ‘homeland security’ grant money to beef up their security. And pressure should be put on Boxer, Feinstein and Pelosi to support the application(s) by Tikkun (and other’s). And [begin snark alert] I’m certain Haim Saban will be more than willing to help by using some of his immense clout in Washington. And who knows, perhaps Sheldon Adelson will take a break from his efforts at promoting more outsourcing of U.S. jobs to China and help recruit some Republican support for Tikkun’s application. I mean, we’re all against terrorism. Right, Shelly? [end snark alert]

Good for Tikkun. Which reminds me–I can’t remember if I renewed my subscription.
Nonsense. Rabbi Lerner’s home is not land that is disputed under international law. He doesn’t live on Occupied Territory nor in a settlement. He lives in Oakland, CA in case you didn’t realize that. And harrassment against him is a violation of state law & if he puts up a video camera I hope the police capture the assailants & charge them with a crime.
