  1. Zionism means different things to different people. Or it did. This word has become radioactive. Older folks should be careful using it now. I may support Israel’s right to exist, and for it to be a home for the Jewish people, but there is a lot attached to that must be clarified in conversation before one gets befriended or shot.

I will never go to Israel again. Sadly, very sadly I say this. It was a wonderful place, tolerable while disturbing for a conscience. One could almost ignore a lot, even rationalize and accuse. Now it’s just impossible to ignore what has happened and where to place blame. It was pretty bad even in 2019. This is very sad for the Jewish people and a shame. More, it’s an ongoing nightmare and tragedy for Palestinians.

  2. JFK cancelled AIPAC and was killed, the democrats now slavishly slober over the criminal entity without ever once asking for one word of the facts of the place – like Truman didn’t want Israel because it went against the newly written UN charter then Ben Gurion spent the two years from 1946-48 lying and convincing Truman they really, truly would write a constitution and the UN notes themselves prove that the day they took the vote to allow the criminal entity stated that 900,000 Palestinians had been killed or dispaced – the Saudis rightly in 1949 likened their behaviour to the nazis.

Yet for the next 70+ years the world let the illegal criminal entity do whatever it wanted to all the neighbours – the reality is no one wanted the jews post WW11 in the west so the Palestinians have suffered for western sins for all these decades. As the grand daughter of an Australian/English soldier based in Gaza city in WW11 I can attest that the soldiers hated the zionist terrorists and saw their racist terrorism face to face, he was wounded by a jewish terrorist and carried part of a bullet till he died in 1971. My own revulsion for the place started with what he used to tell us and the disgust at the sell out of the Palestinians by Australia. In fact everyone my age (70+) who had a father or grand father in Palestine feels the same – the UN notes from the time prove Australia was the most involved and all because we didn’t want jews to come here – it’s truly repulsive that it took till 2023 for the population to wake up.

    1. First, this is my thought on this excellent article and is not a reply to any one person.
About the last sentence that 80% of Jews vote Democratic, most Jews are more concerned about important issues in our country. Issues like eradicating homelessness, building housing for lower income people, ending poverty, fixing our environment and so-on. Even if many Jews(more of them being the older ones) don’t like the word genocide to describe what Israel is doing in Gaza, most oppose what happened there and Israel’s overall treatment of the Palestinians including the occupation of the West Bank and our government’s unconditional support. I shared this with my friends on my email list and posted this to my Facebook page with this comment.

      1. @Walter: Yes. A poll of American Jews found that among 20 issues, Israel was 9th on the list. Jews are the same as Americans in general in terms of their priorities. Israel is one of many and has a fairly low ranking among all the others.
