Mike Pompeo told Jake Tapper that it was none of our business what Bibi Netanyahu did regarding internal Israeli politics. Israel’s a democracy, and if it’s voters want outright fascists in government, it’s OK by him:
“We’re not about to get involved in, to interfere in the election of a democracy. Elections campaigns are tough. We’ll allow the Israeli people to sort this out,”
There are a few problems with this bogus bit of nonsense. The first one being that the fascist party, Otzma Yehudit, is a direct descendant of Meir Kahane’s Kach. If you know Hebrew, listen to Michael Ben Ari’s adulatory video tour of the Knesset library collection of the works of Kahane. It’s sickening. Kach was a precursor party expelled not only from the Israeli Knesset, but ruled a terrorist organization by the U.S. Treasury. The current iteration should be on that same terror list, though that will never happen because most of the Trump officials running U.S. Middle East policy are themselves Kahanists, or admirers.
So Pompeo has just given a green light to admitting Jewish terrorists into the Israeli government. His argument that this is acceptable because the Israeli voters will have democratically approved such an arrangement is bogus. U.S. and European governments have often declared neo Nazi leaders and governments persona non grata. They too were elected. Don’t forget that Hitler too was elected once.
But when you think about it, why should the Trump administration object to fascists helping run the State of Israel? What is Trump but an out-and-out white supremacist? The reason Trump loves Israel (besides Sheldon Adelson’s billion of Benjamins) is that it’s as racist as he is. The most recent example of Trump’s white nationalism is his tweet complaining that Spike Lee’s Oscar speech was “a racist hit on your President.” Who else but a neo-Nazi would play this victim card and call a Black man racist for criticizing a white man?
The bottom line is that an Israeli government filled with fascists is treif. You shouldn’t touch it. You shouldn’t do business with it. You shouldn’t meet with it. You shouldn’t welcome it before your parliaments and Congresses. Any government like Trump’s which does, is itself tainted with the same bigotry and hate that characterizes Israel’s.
It is possible that Israelis will in the end renounce Netanyahu and his reckless political calculations. Current polls show the newly merged center-right “Blue and White” coalition to be ahead of the Likud. If these results hold, then Bibi may be history. And this scurrilous alliance may as well. But Israeli polls are fickle. The party that is now up, isn’t necessarily the one that wins in six weeks. A lot can happen. A war. A terror attack. Anything.
Potential criminal indictments are also expected in the coming days. Such developments themselves could topple Netanyahu from Likud Party leadership. Or not. It depends on how loyal his allies are to him. Trump faces a similar predicament. He has GOP allies who are afraid of his wrath, so they stay in line and refuse to oppose his destructive policies. But Trump too faces waning power and rising unrest in the ranks. It remains to be seen when and whether both their respective sets of allies will remain loyal. Their careers depend on it.
RE: “Pompeo: If Bibi Wants a Fascist Government, Fine by Us”
MY COMMENT: Recently, Pompeo proudly proclaimed that he keeps an open Bible on his desk!
In some other articles I read it’s said that the Republicans will have a field day attacking the Democrats next year if Bernie Sanders is the Democratic nominee, because he opposes US engineered regime change in Venezuela or in any other countries and that he won’t state that the Venezuelan leader Maduro is a dictator. What Sanders is saying is that that the US has no business doing this, and he correctly points out that in every country where our government did this that it has been a disaster. It will be very difficult for Trump and the Republicans to successfully attack Sanders and the Democrats considering that Trump has never met a dictator that he doesn’t like such as Russia’s Putin, North Korea’s Kim, the Philippines Duterte, the Saudi regime, Israel’s Netanyahu and others. As for “We’re not about to get involved in, to interfere in the election of a democracy. Elections campaigns are tough. We’ll allow the Israeli people to sort this out,” Israel is not a democracy for the Palestinians who are under occupation and also not even for the Israeli Arabs whose parties have never been admitted into Israeli coalition governments. That among other things.
“We’re not about to get involved in, to interfere in the election of a democracy. Elections campaigns are tough. We’ll allow the Israeli people to sort this out,”
Said by an US official….such hypocrisy….. that did not work for Palestinians and election of Hamas!!
the statement with the word ‘fascist’ cited by RS is not Pompeo ‘statement. The word ‘fascist does not appear in the quote only that Israel choose their own government. The word is ‘allow’.
@ natasha: The word “fascist” appears in almost every mainstream media report on Bibi’s shenanigans regarding this Jewish terror coalition. If Pompeo doesn’t know Bibi’s laying down with fascists, then he’s not reading the media (and he’ll wake up with fleas!). He knows what Otzma Yehudit is. After all, it’s a successor to a political party which is designated as a terrorist group by his own State Department.
How is Netanyahu any different than Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn?

I thought quote this was laughable.
“We’re not about to get involved in, to interfere in the election of a democracy.”
He’s totally blowing wind out of his mouth. This is the list of countries that the US has interfered in with regards to their elections.

To suggest that the US doesn’t interfere in elections is a flat out lie. The real reason the US isn’t commenting is because this administration openly supports fascist government (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, eg.) and shuns democracies that vote against their interests. I wish more reporters in the media would acknowledge this, but I have very little faith in the press at the moment; as evidenced by their extreme slant against the Palestinian people and in favor of apartheid and ethnic cleansing.
