Bannon’s Alt-Right and Israel’s Far-Right Incite Anti-Muslim Holy War

Buzzfeed just published a dump of Breitbart e-mails, text messages, videos, and recordings mainly focussing on Milo Yiannopoulos. And what an eye-opener it is! We all knew how much he hated feminists and Blacks and Muslims. But we didn’t know that Jews were also honored guests in the pantheon of Milo-hate. His passwords and conversations were replete with anti-Semitic comments and (approving) references to Nazis and the Holocaust.

But the worst aspect of this was the role played by Steve Bannon in egging Yiannopoulos on. The former continually urges the latter to “think big” in terms of the types of racist events he produces and his targets. Among the stunts Bannon spoke approvingly of, was a march through a Muslim neighborhood in Sweden:

“Yiannopoulos, with Bannon’s enthusiastic support, planned to lead a gay pride march through a “Muslim ghetto” in Stockholm.”

The notion that Milo Yiannopoulos cared about gay rights in this context is ludicrous. It was a useful tool to exploit in the campaign to incite the equivalent of a race war between Muslims and the alt-right. Let’s also not forget the false claim both by the Israel Lobby, Breitbart, and the anti-immigrant lobby that Muslims in Sweden engaged in a veritable orgy of rape against beautiful blonde Scandinavian women. This certainly is part of the subtext of this gimmick as well.

But let’s not make the mistake of thinking Milo or Bannon are harmless fools strutting on the stage for the sake of PR. Months before Charlottesville, one of their disciples, to show her devotion to Milo, put a bullet into an Antifa protest monitor who was trying to separate opposing forces at a University of Washington Milo speaking engagement. The man nearly died.

Reading about this planned march brought to mind the very same tactic exploited by Israeli settlers attempting both to bully Israeli Palestinians and provoke religious riots between Jews and Muslims. Baruch Marzel, Benzy Gopstein and numerous far-right settlers have organized marches through Palestinian communities, usually on a day holding symbolic significance for Jews like Jerusalem Day. The sole purpose is to put Palestinians in their place and incite them to acts of violence. This would further polarize and radicalize the Israeli Jewish community supposedly, encouraging it to embrace the goals of Jewish settler supremacists.

It is no accident that American white supremacists and neo-Nazis like Yiannopoulos and Bannon turn to the same tactics as Kahanist settlers. Their goals are virtually the same: ridding each country of religious or ethnic minorities, so that the majority religion can reign supreme and unfettered.

This is yet another example of Israeli “innovation” in areas of counter-terror tactics and suppression of minority rights. Drone killings, targeted assassinations, racial profiling–all were first developed by Israel and “bestowed” on the rest of the world. It’s no accident that Milo and Bannon ape the worst of Israeli right-wing bullying tactics. They are kissing cousins in that regard.

Lest anyone seek to distinguish between Trump and his acolytes like the Breitbart gang, you can’t. Trump’s views exactly parallel those of the alt-right. Today, I listened to an NPR podcast which interviewed Bill Pruitt, who produced The Apprentice for two years. He confirmed that discussions among the producers and Trump about who to fire regularly included demeaning references to Blacks, but also anti-Semitic statements about Jewish contestants.

It’s also important to remember Trump’s family history of racism in which his father was arrested for his active and violent role in Ku Klux Klan rallies against Catholics, Blacks and Jews in Queens in the late 1927. The apple doesn’t fall far from the (poisonous) tree.

Except for Mort Klein and Malcolm Hoenlein virtually every Jew in the U.S. understands that the President is an anti-Semite. But what they don’t yet understand is that virtually the entire Israeli government shares similarly reprehensible views about Muslims. And that these views are at the heart of Israeli society; that they cannot be separated from the concept of liberal Zionism, which American Jews have espoused for decades.

The shattering of this Zionist dream will hopefully wake (some) Jews from their long slumber. It will make them realize that Trump and Netanyahu and everything they stand for are at odds with the values of American Jewry. Nor is it just a question of these two individuals: but the deep-seated values within their respective societies they represent, and which must be confronted and removed, root and branch.
