Yes, I know, a wee bit late. Better late than…
Adin was a racecar driver and Miriam a mermaid princess for Halloween. Jonah–well, it’s a bit complicated. He cut out a round cardboard head meant to be a pumpkin. He attached a headband and wore it around his head. He taped a plastic bag to the pumpkin’s mouth and when he said “Trick or Treat” he said: “Feed the pumpkin,” and people put the candy right in the pumpkin’s “mouth!”
Rather ingenious.
One little bit was a drag though. We left out a huge bag of Costco candy by our front door for kids to take one each when we were away trick or treating and some errant teenager stole the entire bag. In Seattle, you generally trust people to behave decently but every once in a while you’re disappointed by human nature.
Now, how do you get the kids not to OD on all the candy they collected?! To take a look at the last six months worth of photos visit my new Flickr “set.” I’m just getting the hang of Flickr. I’d been using another photo gallery platform for many years and wanted to try out a service that might get more site traffic.
What a cute photo!
Sorry about the Candy bag. That’s the recession for ya!!
but very heart-warming picture.
Absolutely beautiful kids !
I’m a newcomer here, but I guess they are your kids.
“Adin” – what a lovely name. Makes me think of Aladin. First time I ever come across it. Does it mean ‘the gentle’ or something like that ?
In Hebrew, I believe it comes from the same word as Garden of Eden & means something like “refined” or “gentle” or “elegant.” Funny thing is he’s anything but–a bundle of energy & enthusiasms.
Such beautiful children – my the grow up so fast! Joella (now 4 1/2) was a Ladybug and my Son Elijah (born Aug 4 – not sure I told you about that!) was a pumpkin!
Mazel tov to you! I didn’t know about your “latest.”
What a lovely picture!
No Halloween here, but my kids (8 and 5 already now, I can’t believe it) will go out to collect sweets on November 11, on St. Martin’s Day.
It is a lot like Halloween, but unfortunately there are no costumes. Instead, the children have to sing a song in order to get sweets. They look forward to it for weeks ahead.

I’d be more careful of what I put on the internet. I cannot stress the importance of keeping your children safe; not just from potential predators and pedophiles, but from large corporations and the government.
