Bernie Kerik was indicted today for receiving financial favors from a mobbed up New York construction company:
A federal grand jury today indicted Bernard B. Kerik, the former New York police commissioner appointed by Rudolph W. Giuliani while he was mayor, on charges that include tax fraud, obstruction of justice and lying to the White House.
In announcing the indictment, Michael J. Garcia, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, said it was a “sad day when this office returns an indictment against a former law enforcement officer, particularly one who served in positions as high as those held by Bernard Kerik.”
“But we will not hesitate to pursue any public official who violates his oath and betrays the public trust as Mr. Kerik is alleged to have done,” Mr. Garcia said. “Nor can we tolerate lies to those who are given the critical tasks of vetting individuals for important public posts.”
And with the indictment Rudy has now developed a Bernie problem. To wit, that Rudy shows such blind loyalty to his political capos that he deliberately overlooks their moral, financial and legal peccadilloes. It’s one thing when you do this as mayor of New York City. But when the public is contemplating you as presidential material, it’s quite another.
Caveat emptor (voting public beware!).
I’m also tickled that Rudy’s campaign is wasting money advertising on this site via Google. Ah, the imprecision of online advertising.
