I generally admire and respect the work of the Israel Policy Forum. But either their leadership is enamored of rubbing shoulders with politically connected Israeli politicians or someone there has taken leave of their senses.
How in heaven’s name do you decide to honor that back room political brawler and street fighter otherwise known as Deputy Prime minister Ehud Olmert?
This is the man who floated a trial balloon to the Jerusalem Post saying Israel seriously contemplated assassinating Yasir Arafat.
Is Israel Policy Forum trying to prove that it can out-AIPAC AIPAC? Trying to prove that IPF can flex its muscle too on the Israeli political scene?
I’ve written respectfully to one of IPF’s founders and a friend, Jonathan Jacoby, and asked him to explain the thinking behind this invitation. The response? Silence
If this disgusts you as much as me, you might want to send an e mail or call IPF at 212.245.4227. You may have to hold your nose while you’re doing it. It’s a schande!
