These are courageous young Israelis who diametrically oppose a fundamental tenet of Israeli society: the obligation to serve the nation with required military service. Seruvniks refuse to serve when the IDF demands service in the Occupied Territories (though they readily agree to serve anywhere else). Concering Iraq: NPR last week quoted a current poll says that 2/3 of all Americans do not approve of any type of Iraq conflict unless it involves a 2nd UN resolution approving of war. Thats a heartening note in an otherwise bleak world picture.
