  1. Richard, your good deeds are uncredited by those who know nothing of merit. Great job here exposingthe tragic intent of those who claim to be noble.

  2. During the General Assembly Ad Hoc Committee hearings, the British government tasked the RAF with the job of conducting an aerial photographic survey of the Beersheba district. The results are still useful today in establishing the pre-state existence of the Bedouin communities. On 1 November 1947, the British representative turned over a report in which the resident Bedouin population data was revised upwards to 127,000. The RAF counted 3,389 houses and 8,722 tents. The British report explained that Bedouins had been settled on the land for generations and that they were known as Beersheba Bedouins no matter where they lived in Palestine due to the land rights they held in that district. The so-called “nomads” were responsible for the cultivation of over two million dunams of land devoted to cereal grain production. The entire land holdings of the Jewish community only amounted to 4.9 million dunams at the time. The report said that 105,000 Bedouins should be added to the number of Arabs who normally resided in the area of the proposed Jewish state. When that was done, the Ad Hoc committees reported:

“It will thus be seen that the proposed Jewish State will contain a total population of 1,008,800, consisting of 509,780 Arabs and 499,020 Jews. In other words, at the outset, the Arabs will have a majority in the proposed Jewish State.”

    See paragraphs 62-64 on pdf file pages 40-42 of A/AC.14/32, 11 November 1947 @ http://www.un.org/ga/search/view_doc.asp?symbol=A/AC.14/32

Of course the Israelis seized even more Arab populated territory than the UN had envisioned and prevented the legal inhabitants from returning.

  3. When the Japanese were in charge of Sakhalin they too forcibly removed the Ainu population from their traditional ancestral lands and placed them in larger towns built with concentrated populations.
When colonial powers are in charge “there is nothing new under the sun.”
