To learn how a cultural phenomenon is viewed by a society, one merely has to monitor how it is portrayed in popular culture. In the case of blogging, I’d never seen any reference in TV scripts to blogging until yesterday night’s repeat episode (Painless) of Law & Order: SVU in which a doctor (Marlee Matlin) with terminal kidney disease uses her blog to reach out to create a community of support. In one particular scene, Matlin provides an emotional and passionate defense of blogging as a means for those who suffer to reach out to others for succor and support.
This is the first reference I’ve heard in a TV script to blogging. Anyone else heard any others?
