Last November, we took our 3 year-old son, Jonah to the miraculously wonderful 30th annual Model Railroad Show at the Pacific Science Center. For the show, much of the museum’s exhibition space was turned over to scores of different types of model and toy trains. It was a little (and big) kid’s delight!
As you will see below, an exhibitor named Gramps astonished me with the intricate miniature train universe he created. With his miniature railroad cars, jalopies, stores and human figures, he populates an entire imaginary Appalachian town–or at least the part of town around the railroad tracks. The intensity of his vision and the brilliant detail in his railroad portraits are a wonder to behold.
