    The sources stressed, ‘partly’. My best guess is that this was a joint Israeli-Jordanian mission. Jordan provided the human intelligence, Israel providing the signals intelligence.

    1. @Zionauts: That still means Vanity Fair’s acct is fictitious. I strongly doubt Israel Could infiltrate Syria in the manner described. Pick up signals intelligence from inside Syria? Sure. But manage an operation like the one described? No way.

  3. But why did Jordan, which surely also wants the Americans on their good side, not share the information with the US, as soon as they told Israel. Why give Israel the chance to take the credit?
