I’ve been doing my best here at documenting smears of Barack Obama manufactured by Jews or for Jewish consumption. I’m delighted that The Nation is publishing not one, but two excellent articles on the subject (what can I say there’s a A LOT to write about on this subject). Ari Berman wrote Smearing Obama and Eric Alterman wrote (Some) Jews Against Obama. I highly recommend reading both (with Berman’s piece being longer and containing more original research) if you want a documented record of the smears, who originated them, who promoted them and who credits them as true. It isn’t pretty. For example, I’ve always wanted to know more about slimeball Ed Lasky, originator of anti-Malley hit job. Berman’s got it.
Among other shocking facts Berman notes is a Wall Street Journal poll of registered voters, which finds 13% believe that Obama is a Muslim. 13%! I know it’s the WSJ and their polls on such subjects should be treated with a grain of salt–but still!
