Halloween Pumpkin
This was Jonah’s third Halloween, but the first for which he understood and appreciated the magic of trick or treating. Janis and I scrounged around for costume ideas trying to avoid all the obvious, dull choices. Janis struck on the great idea of Bob the Builder since that was the DVD he was watching almost full time at that time. But we only persuaded him to wear this costume twice and one of those times (luckily) was Halloween night.

Candy is a tough issue on Halloween if you wish to control or at least diminish your child’s sugar/candy intake. The method we struck on was to collect all the candy during trick or treating, bring it home then remove it from sight, then pick through the lot finding the least offensive items and letting Jonah know the following day that we had a bowl full of treats he could enjoy. We let him eat a candy once or twice a day. This lasted about two weeks until we ran out and–guess what–he stopped asking for it!
