  1. “According to the Yediot reporter, the primary goal of the meeting was how to stop the “Islamic wave” sweeping the region”

This strengthens my suspicion that the Egyptian military government will be permitted, if not encouraged, to thwart the upcoming Egyptian parliamentary elections, which are expected to result in a victory of Islamically-motivated political forces.

      1. Nobody can be sure untile the votes are cast and counted.
The questions are how much the Egyptian military is unwilling to lose its political power, how much the US and Israel are afraid of an Islamist victory, and how far they are willing to go in order to prevent it.
By the way, I don’t use the term “Islamist” in a derogatory sense.

  2. I am not sure if Eilat attack was very sophisticated, apart from the attackers having prior military training that could be provided by Iran, but quite possibly not. Iran is not the only party on the receiving end of Israeli assassinations.

I strongly suspect that Iran’s connection is purely a speculation which is currently sufficiently convenient to ply to “stenographers”. In Israeli/American demonology, all evil can be ultimately traced to the “mullahs of Iran”.

    1. The Eilat attackers had weaponry far more sophisticated than the PRC, which is what the IDF expected. They had RPGs and what Fishman described as tilim in Hebrew, which usually means rockets, though I’m not sure whether it refers to an RPG shell. The tactics were also fairly sophisticated and the attacks multi-pronged and extended.

      1. Still waiting for an apology or even an “oooops” from Israel after its rush to judgment in attacking Gaza and killing unarmed civilians (or anybody else in Gaza) including an infant.
