The most recent Pew Research poll on American attitudes toward Israel, tracking views of Trump policy concerning the war, and overall views of the war, reveal that support is cratering. It confirms major decreases in support on these issues.
Unfortunately, the poll avoided specific questions about Israel’s military operation in Gaza (though it did track such views in 2024 polls), including how many of those polls believed it was a “genocide.” This would be a further important indicator of the level of disapproval of the war.
These are some of the key findings:
- A massive increase among Americans who disapprove of Israel. Now a majority (53%) up from 42% in 2022. The share of respondents who view Israel “very unfavorably” has doubled from 10% to 19% since 2022. 69% of Democrats hold these views. Disapproval increased among young Democrats by 9%. But by older Democrats it rose markedly by 23%. This is usually the cohort that is most supportive of Israel. Even a majority of young Republicans (50%) view Israeli unfavorably.
- A majority (50%) of white non-evangelical Christians disapprove of Israel.
- 52% of Americans have no confidence that Netanyahu will “do the right thing regarding world affairs.” 53% of Jews “lack confidence in Netanyahu’s leadership.”
- Meanwhile, 70% of American Jews approve of Israel. This is astonishing considering the mountain evidence of genocide right before their eyes and reported daily in the media. But it shows the power of indoctrination and the herd mentality of Jews toward Israel.
- Only 46% of Americans believe a two-state solution is possible. As belief in its viability decreases, politicians and diplomats globally continue to tout it as the gold standard solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict. Americans increasingly recognize that it is not. Instead, it is a cruel hoax which permits its advocates to assuage their conscience.
- 62% of respondents disapprove of Trump’s proposal for the US to take over Gaza. 32% of Jews approve of his plan. Again, an astonishing finding considering how impractical, unlikely and yes, even preposterous such a project would be. Only 38% of Americans overall believe Trump will actually pursue this approach.
Very interesting. Now regarding this “Meanwhile, 70% of American Jews approve of Israel,” I saw other polls showing that the majority of American Jews oppose the Israeli settlements in the West Bank and want the U.S. to put more pressure on Israel. Other than that, former president Biden’s unconditional support for Israel and his refusal to stop shipments of weapons cost Kamala Harris votes, particularly in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and the election. Other polls I read showed that the majority of Jews are more concerned about addressing domestic issues. I don’t have time to google search now, but this has been very consistent.
Studied opinion polls for most of my life and realize it is a snapshot moment. As news is biased and severely censored, Hasbara less effective, political decisions made for dogmatic and false arguments IMO, there will be little change on the ground in Gaza.
It is well known news, foreign policy is based on weaponized information run by intelligence sources. [Operation Mockingbird in modern info warfare] Preparation for war starts with disinformation. We’ve seen this in all recent wars in last 25 years from Kosovo, Neocon ME wars and momentarily in Europe.
I witness no shift in political power, nor in military power that will stop the Gaza genocide, to the contrary. There is an increase in countries where freedom of speech is limited, pro-Palestine is equated as pro terror and pro-Hamas, and the term “genocide” is wholly banned.
Within a mile of the Carnegie Peace Palace seat of the ICJ and the ICC in The Hague, the NATO war machine run of SG Rutte will meet from 24-26 June. Crucial traffic arteries will be closed for 4 months! DisInfo to replace “peace” by “war” as the first is remote and the latter imminent. Tactic used so very often by Mark Rutte.

Do we need a reminder in the days after 9/11 Bibi Netanyahu came to Washington DC, an invitation to US Congress to coin the fallacy support for Palestinians is support for terror like Al Qaeda. He wins, we lose. We are all “Zionists” now or else we are antisemites.
“Shift” in age group is particularly interesting, but often the views adapt to reality for jobs and maturity outside ideals of college and universities.
It’s about time! The majority of “citizens” don’t really know or understand the history of it all. England gave about half of Palestine to holocaust survivors, Zionists, etc. without regard to the impact on Palestinians. Selfish, destructive decision that has painfully affected much of the world ever since.
