IDF Murdered Israeli Hostages with Poison Gas

Ron Sherman was one of the IDF soldiers captured by Hamas on 10/7.  They spirited him to Gaza and hid in a tunnel.

Israel said it would use poison gas to kill or flush out Hamas fighters. It didn’t say it would murder its own soldiers, its own hostages in the process.  And before anyone calls this an unfortunate accident; that the IDF would never have done this had it known he was there. Mayan Sherman, mother Ron, accuses Israel of deliberately murdering her son using the same method as the Nazis in Auschwitz. In fact, she includes an image of a gas chamber alongside a picture of her sleeping boy, to emphasize the horror the army and government have inflicted on her son and herself:

“The results of the investigation:

• Ron was murdered.
• Not by Hamas.
• Think rather in the direction of Auschwitz and the showers, but without Nazis or Hamas as the perpetrator.
• Nor by accidental shooting.
• Intentional per-meditated murder
• Bombs filled with poison gas
• Ron was captured because of criminal negligence of the army command and this rotten government, which gave the order to eliminate him in order to settle accounts with some terrorist from Jabalya.
• They found several smashed fingers apparently following of his failed attempts to escape the toxic grave in which the army put him as he tried to breathe air, but instead breathed IDF poison.
• My beloved. Would that I could have died in your place. What a horror you endured. Death with terrible suffering. And all under the orders of the Israel Defense Forces and war cabinet, which you so trusted and valued. There is no future for this country if this is what how the y tortured you after abandoning you on that Shabbat.
• What would have happened if Bibi’s son was the one in the tunnel…or the grandson of Gallant or the son of [IDF chief of staff] Herzi Halevi?
  Would they have poisoned them with gas bombs??”

After burying her son, she published another Facebook post in which she was equally distraught:

In the continuing cover up of the facts [of Ron’s death] by the IDF and the Ministry of Defense:

• The gravestone I placed on my son’s grave – one which was important to me to be placed on his tomb as his mother–I paid for this tombstone with my money and received permission from the bereavement officer to place on top of his grave–was was stolen / taken as soon as I left the memorial service in the cemetery, by a woman named Oshrit from the Ministry of Defense.
• Just as they cover up by claiming that they died during the mission to kill [Hamas commander] Rendor.  They think that removing the stone from Rontyush’s [diminutive for “Ron”] grave will clean up the facts, such as they are.
• Ron was kidnapped because of a monstrous derilict government and a failed army.
• Ron was abandoned by the worst defense minister [Gallant] in the history of the country…and failed intelligence.
• We had to bury Ron in order to kill a terrorist who they let live for 15 years.
• Currently, they’re lying, claiming they didn’t know that the high-level terrorist was surrounded by hostages despite an IDF general telling me they always knew where Ron was being kept.
• In conclusion, the only thing they left me as his mother – the gravestone they permitted me to lay on his grave and which cost no small sum, and which I paid for it out of my pocket – was removed behind my back as soon as I moved away from the grave– by the Ministry of Defense, to continue its coverup of his murder…
• So again- this is the government and Ministry of Defense. This is what they are.
• Cover-up, removal of criminal evidence, sacrificing the kidnapped, abandoning the bereaved parents.
• All because of the incompetence of the disastrous government that has been busy with folly for an entire year, with the collection of human garbage [a referral to Smotrich and Ben Gvir and their extremism] that composes it. Instead of being concerned about the security of the citizens of the country.
• The gravestone will be returned or there won’t be a grave.
• And regarding the ‘joy’ of the Ministry of Defense [in tormenting her]- return what you stole from Ron’s grave immediately. Or this will be the last time I will will come to my son’s grave.
• How sad that he is not here to rid both of us of you.

The army, which brought the bodies of three hostages it killed back to Israel last month, released a statement that is a tissue of lies:

The Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday informed the families of deceased hostages Ron Sherman, Nik Beizer and Elia Toledano that it could not determine the cause of their deaths.

The army, which repatriated their bodies from Gaza in December, said that “at this stage it cannot before denied nor confirmed that they were killed due to strangulation, suffocation, poisoning, or as the result of an IDF attack or Hamas operation.”

It has taken the army over a month to tell the families anything about how the three hostages died. Even then, it compiled a report that deliberately obscured the truth. And Ron’s mother has called them out for their callousness.

When the IDF kills Palestinians it says nothing because they mean nothing. When it kills Palestinians and is filmed doing so, it releases a statement saying the incident is under investigation.  But when it kills three of its own soldiers attempting to surrender, then it actually reveals some (but not all) of the incompetence and dereliction of duty that caused it. When it kills an Israeli soldier and thinks it can get away with it, it says the cause of death “cannot be determined.” It can’t be determined because they don’t want it determined. Rather, they know the cause of death.  And they know there will be Hell to pay if they tell the truth. So they lie.

They’re lying about Ron Sherman’s death just as they lied about Capt. Tomer Eiges death.  They can’t say. It’s a mystery. We’ll never know.  But they do know.  Ron’s mother knows. A mother knows.  And she is right.

This is a criminal state which kills its own with impunity.  It places no value on the lives of its own hostages, because doing so would constrain the genocide it’s perpetrating in Gaza.  It would force Israel to stop fighting and negotiate for their release.

Though it seems unbelievable, Netanyahu doesn’t care about the hostages. He may not even want them freed.  It’s hard to understand why. But his behavior offers no other explanation.  He certainly cannot believe that fighting till the very end will free them.
