  1. Israel is doing her utmost to spare civilian lives, whereas every Islamic Jihad rocket is targeting Israeli civilians, but especially those in nearby communities like , Sderot, Nirim, Ashkelon and Ashdod.

Richard, the Gazan woman you quote admits that Israel warned her and other civilians to flee a pending attack. Has IJ or Hamas ever done the same?

Question: How many times have you had to stop action because of civilians?

“Dozens of times. But it’s not black or white. When there are civilians near a certain attack you stop, in another you move further away. It’s delays or cancellations, and mostly adjustments. If I discover that there is someone on a certain floor who shouldn’t be hurt, I can bring another plane. When I see children running in the field, I will cancel. Wherever we know there are civilians, we do not act or adjust the action.”
How much do you see them using it (human shields)?
“You see it all the time. When they launch from schools during the day in the middle of the week, when they walk around with weapons in populated areas. You see the children playing outside while bombs explode near them, it’s not natural. It’s not accidental that they are near children. And we must say one more thing – because of the targeted killings and the feeling of being persecuted, they start to make mistakes and behave differently.”

    1. @ Jay:

Israel is doing her utmost to spare civilian lives,

1500 of the 2,300 Palestinians Israel murdered in Operation Protective Edge were civilians. That in turn led to the current ICC investigation which is taking testimony about Israeli war crimes. Of the 35 Palestinian Israel murdered in this go-round, 6 were children. Including 4 children and their mothers murdered for no other reason than their father was an Israeli assassination target. Don’t you dare even try to make such a disgusting mendacious argument.

every Islamic Jihad rocket is targeting Israeli civilians

IJ rockets don’t ‘target’ anything. You think when a rocketeer launches a rocket he’s aiming it at a particular building in a particular city? That’s laughable. The only thing they can do it point the rocket launcher in the right direction and hope it hits something.

Has IJ or Hamas ever done the same?

What an excellent idea. IJ will phone every Israeli whose homes it might hit, warning them that there’s a 1 in 1,000,000 chance they might hit their residence. Or would you prefer perhaps a mini-rocket launched as a “tap” on building in Rehovot warning residents to flee because another rocket will hit them in 5 minutes. Really your analogies are laughable,

The rest of your comment and quote from the Ynet article is total bullshit. Oh how Israeli reporters eat up these stories of profound moral conscience and how drone operators, the Shin Bet and military commanders wrestle with deepl questions of life and death. And how they move heaven and earth to avoid civilian casualties. The drone operator had his finger on the triger and suddenly a little boy weaves his way into the firing zone and he stops his attack with barely a moment to spare. Such drama. Such sacrifice for the sake of preserving innocent life! I’ve literally read scores of these puff pieces that insult the intelligence of any person with any sense or reason. The first one I read with in the LA TImes going back 20 years or more. That’s how old & stale these genre pieces are. I say “genre” because they are a particular form of journalism in service to Israeli militarism.

  2. Not only is this state terrorism, criminal and inhumane as well as in the name of Jews, it’s stupid stupid stupid, assuring there will be more retaliatory attacks on Israel and Israelis and escalation to better weapons on the Palestinian side. This time IJ reached further into Israel. The Biden administration is deeply disappointing on the issue of Israel.

  3. If we are talking about Shooting Fish in a Barrel. Why is there no metnion of 1,400+ rockets launched at civilian areas?

    1. @ James: So the IJ rockets which barely hit anything in Israel, killing one person; as opposed to Israeli F-35s which murdered 35, including 6 children. A death toll of 35-1 and you complain about Palestinian rockets.

Do not respond to my comment. You may post a single comment in any thread.

      1. Richard’s 35-1 ratio is off kilter insofar as it doesn’t distinguish between Palestinian civilians and combatants.
Six, at a minimum, of the dead were jihadist combatants.
Four dead civilians, including children, were murdered by errant Islamic Jihad rockets.
“One of the incidents occurred when a rocket from a failed launch landed in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza killing Rami Shadi Hamdan, 16, and Ahmed Muhammad a-Shabaki, 51. In a second incident, a failed rocket launch in Gaza City killed Layan Bilal Mohammad Abdullah Mdoukh, 10, and Yazan Jawdat Fathi Elayyan, 16, according to the IDF.”
        https://www.ynetnews.com/article/r118lg54n

Also, a Gazan civilian working in Israel was killed by a rocket, so Richards ratio is more like 15-1.

        1. @ Chad:

Richard’s 35-1 ratio is off kilter insofar as it doesn’t distinguish between Palestinian civilians and combatants.

No it isn’t. 35 Palestinians have been murdered by Israel. Combatants are human beings, so they deserve to be included in the death count. If 35 Israeli were killed in a rocket or resistance attack would you claim that the 5 who were soldiers shouldn’t be included in the death count? Of course, you wouldn’t. But you can see your racism in the way you approach Palestinian dead.

Four dead civilians, including children, were murdered by errant Islamic Jihad rockets…according to the IDF.”

You apparently don’t know enough about this blog. We don’t trust anything the liars at the IDF say. Not a word. It’s an army built on lies, distortion and deception. And that’s been proven scores of times by reporting I’ve done here. And even if what the IDF claims is true, it was Israel that provoked the Palestinian rockets both with the decision to let Khader Adnan die, and the murder of the 3 IJ commanders. So yes, Israel is to blame for the Palestinian resistance, including the rocket fire which may or may not have killed Palestinians.

Richards ratio is more like 15-1.

Really? That’s what you’re going to go with as a final convincing argument? That the death ratio was “only” 15-1. Quite an “improvement.” So instead of 35 separate acts constitution war crimes, there were only 15 war crimes.

“IJ rockets don’t ‘target’ anything. You think when a rocketeer launches a rocket he’s aiming it at a particular building in a particular city? That’s laughable”

IJ rockets do indeed target Israeli cities, which cities are made of roads, buildings and the people who use those roads and inhabit those buildings.

Every IJ rocket that targeted an Israeli city was meant to hit that city’s peoples and structures.

Just as a side note. Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system only engages those Palestinian rockets that the system’s algorhythms determine may strike an Israeli city or town.

I hope for the day when Israel develops some sort of directed energy weapon, maybe lasers, that can swat all incoming terror rockets and missiles and zap and kill armed terrorists while sparing innocent lives.

I give it ten years to develop.
I can say with certainty that the I/P conflict will still be raging in ten years and that Israel will continue to have her detractors, whether online or in the media or in the diplomatic arena.

    1. @ Barney:

IJ rockets do indeed target Israeli cities

Again, no they don’t. There is no targeting of these rockets. No navigation system. The humans who launch them have no idea where they will land. They know approximately how far they will go. Perhaps they have the coordinates of specific targets and can point the rocket in a general direction, they have absolutely no idea where they will land. This is established fact by rocket experts whose work I’ve read and who I’ve also consulted with regarding the case of Dirar Abusisi. You, on the other hand know nothing about rockets. So you will not opine on technical matters you know nothing about.

I hope for the day when Israel develops some sort of directed energy weapon, maybe lasers, that can…zap and kill armed terrorists

I despise people who advocate developing weapon systems. I despise people who advocate murder. This was you last comment here.
