The magic number is 424. If you bet on Lotto put your money on it. It’s a sure thing. That’s because Donald Trump’s Rosencrantz and Gildenstern, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, during a private dinner (at 1 hour, 12 minutes in the video), bear the Good News to the president. A rabbi has calculated the gematriya (numerology) of the letters spelling Donald Trump in Hebrew and they equal the value of the letters spelling “Messiah son of David.” What was their numerical value? You guessed it, 424.
Then Parnas tells Trump that the chief rabbi of Ukraine has calculated the value of his name and the messiah’s, equalling the magic number. Clearly it seems like hocus-pocus to Trump, who replies: “what does that mean?” They continue by telling him: “It’s like…a miracle.” Obviously, Trump continues to be puzzled and asks: “Why 424?” They continue trying to persuade him of his good omen. Clearly still confused, Trumps asks: “What other numbers do you have?” Which doesn’t even make any sense in the context of the conversation. Then Parnas adds helpfully: “just as the Messiah will save the world so you will save the USA. And when the Jews of Ukraine pray for the coming of the Messiah, they are praying for you.”
Fruman makes a slip of the tongue though, in conveying this to Trump. Instead of saying moshiach ben David (“Messiah the son of David”) he says Moshe ben David (“Moses son of David”). Moses, of course, was not the son of David. No real Orthodox Jew would ever make this mistake. It shows that these two are ignoramuses and Judeo-charlatans of the first rank. In that sense, they are perfect company for Donald Trump.
Gematriya offers a mystical conception of the universe and derives from Lurianic Kabbalah. But this use of gematriya is repulsive.
Trump has likened himself to Jesus before Christian evangelical crowds. And he seems to prefer being Jesus Christ than being a Jewish messiah (i.e. more of them than there are of us). After barely following their explanation of his messianic properties, he changes the subject to talk about…real estate mortgages!
I’m convinced Trump believes in no religion. If he could be God or at least the son of God (without the bad ending), he probably would be delighted to be a believer. It would be easy, after all, to worship himself since he’s quite used to doing that already.
The rabbi in question is Chief Rabbi Moshe Azman, who I referred to in this post about Igor, Lev and Rudy’s excellent Ukrainian adventure. I featured a picture of Rudy and the Rebbe smoking a mean Cohiba together. Rudy calls him a “wise man,” though on what basis he can determine the rabbi’s wisdom is unclear.
