  1. “Palestinian militias like Hamas and Islamic Jihad will also fall under this investigation for their firing of rockets into Israeli civilian areas. These attacks have killed two-dozen or so Israelis over the past two decades and wounded an even larger number.”

Doesn’t shooting mortars and rockets at purely civilian targets in Israel, constitute ‘war crimes’?

  2. perhaps thru acrobatics they “may” find a loophole on jerusalem, occupation and illegal settling.
directly Israel cannot be touched, we all know that, however and again thru the palestinian occupation back door anything is possible. Israel ITSELF may not be touched but the army and army leaders including the higher political echelon MAY be.
the bestest we can hope for is A (at least A) warrant be issued again ANYONE. that will raise the sell of Pampers for those hiding or trying to hide. it is hi time. sadly no one will bring the putins or saddams where they are due or even the philipino avowed murderer. please take me back to teflon reagan.

i live in the “zone of terror = ASHDOD” for every mortar that has “hit” anything there have been THOUSANDS of smart bombs going the other way. for the 2 dozens (i hope your count is rite) there have been THOUSANDS going the other way. ARE THE 2 DOZENS LIVES OF OURS worth thousands of theirs. would you like to live in a GHETTO for the rest of your life? (ghetto, prison, the name is the same). for every hundred bucks they spend on a mortar WE YOU AND ME AND TRUMP AND EVERY ONE OF THE 350 ODD MILLIONS PAY MILLIONS to develop OUR “DEFENSIVE- HIT BACK AT THEM” BOMBS. for every 10 shekels that go to the “army” less than 10 agurots go to feed the old, the hungry and the roads and streets. SPARE ME the crocodile tears. we’ve had our ears full for the last month about A A A TEENAGER caught with a marijuana cigarette in Moscow. More ink has been wasted on that that all the inks wasted on Assange during his lifetime.
life to life , your life is not better that mine or theirs.

  4. I doubt that Bensouda will do anything regarding Israel. In my opinion, she has a connection to Zionism (through Philip Bensouda), and I sent you information about that.

    @Richard

Firing missiles, rockets and mortars at civilian towns, like Ashdod, is a ‘per se’ war crime. No investigation is needed.

I don’t understand why the PA would want the ICC to summarily find Hamas and IJ, guilty of war crimes.
Seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/hamas-praises-icc-for-readying-probe-of-alleged-war-crimes-by-israel-and-it/

I’ve been to Ashdod. It’s a nice, clean modern town with all the amenities.
There is a pita shop there that served a memorable ‘sabich’!

Truth be told though, I found her Philistine Culture Museum to be informative, but dull.

    1. @ Dean: You don’t seem to understand what international law or due process is. There is no such thing as a “per se” war crime. There is a legal process that must be followed to determine this. That’s why it’s called “law” and not rough justice or a kangaroo court. You clearly are more sympathetic to the Israeli, or Obama/U.S. or Indian model where you just take the suspect out and shoot him like a dog rather than waste time with investigations and court hearings and sentencing.

As for why the PA would want an ICC investigation, I can’t believe how ignorant you are of intra-Palestinian politics. The PA would be unlikely to be charged by the ICC. Hamas and IJ leadership will be likely charged. That suits the PA just fine since they hate the other two groups.

As for the rest of your comment, it was off-topic. A comment rule violation. We aren’t interested in an Israel travelogue or your views of the cultural amenities. Stick to the topic.

  6. Dearest Dean
you ain’t gotta a clue to live in a closed theocracy against your will (that is a prison) you have no idea the price society pays for a military dictatorship, is it cheap to visit Israel, NOT BY A MILE AND A QUARTER, Israel, Tel Aviv and all other cities are way way up in the expensive rite near Switzerland and their cucu’s government.
the proverb IDLE HANDS ARE THE HANDS OF THE DEVIL,. well think hamas having zero thing to do. they have zero thing better than to build ugly toys, well as opposed to Israel that has zero good to do to it’s 6+ millions who do not work for Office 8200 or build arms at the cost of MY PENSION or the GHETTO SURVIVORS PENSIONS.
not to count the gizillions israeli billionaires who pay zero tax like Intel, Microsoft, Google and the MILCHANS who associate with bibi and sarah and yair etc..
spare me the flammable balloons joke that harmed no one except getting a few of them killed, NO I HAVE ZERO LOVE FOR WAR MONGERING LIKE HEZBOLLAH OR IRAN. Those live to destroy in order to conquer, BECAUSE THEY HAVE OIL AND MONEY, (also do not forget that their population, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran itself ) are STARVING.
let’s judge oranges to oranges not pimples on your nose with 5tons bunker busters ,

  7. Norman Finkelstein: ‘Fatou Bensouda Has Done Everything in Her Power to Prevent an Investigation of the Israeli Crimes by the ICC’

I don’t think Israel needs to worry too much.

  8. Mr Wright – please include THE FULL LINE – so as not to skew the truth
Fatou Bensouda, is desperately trying not to investigate Israeli war crimes. But within the International Criminal Court, there has been an unprecedented pushback. There are large numbers of members—large numbers of members of the ICC who say it’s time to indict Israel.

  9. U.S. Congress passed The Hague Invasion Act – 2002

The US military can legally break a citizen out of The Hague …

“A State Department official confirmed that Bensouda’s visa was revoked but provided few other details, citing confidentiality rules around visa records. Instead, the official reiterated that the U.S. will protect its personnel from ’unjust investigation and prosecution.’”

I can imagine AIPAC is writing new legislation for U.S. Congress to have them include Israeli citizens in above mentioned act of terror vs. our ally The Netherlands which had endured a previous invasion in may 1940.

  10. Just a minor correction: the famous Goldstone report concerned war crimes during Operation Cast Lead dec 2008-jan 2009
