After yesterday’s terrorist attack in Iran— targeting an Iranian Revolutionary Guard parade in which nearly 30 were killed including many civilians–the outline of a major new campaign against the country’s government is taking shape.
The campaign has a number of elements and is quite complex and brutal. One major component is the Trump administration’s effort to starve the Iranian economy of goods through sanctions. News reports have indicated that Iranian oil exports have shrunk considerably. Since that is the nation’s primary export, it means the average Iranian will be left with little or no recourse for basic amenities. Just as the U.S. sanctions against Iraq during the Saddam Hussein era led to the deaths of 1-million Iraqis (most of them children), that seems to be the goal, or at least the direction Trump is heading.
The EU in typical milquetoast fashion, has feigned taking decisive action to protect Iran and the nuclear deal the former negotiated with Iran. But it has done nothing of substance that would counter the U.S.’ policy. Western companies are withdrawing from and cancelling contracts with Iran right and left. No regional or international body has the guts to counter Trump. The same holds true with the Republican Party in this country.
In addition to economic strangulation, Iran’s key adversaries–the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Israel and the MeK–are surely planning a series of terror attacks like the one yesterday. The reason I’m so certain that this is not a one-off phenomenon is that we’ve seen it all before. As Tamir Pardo, former Mossad chief, told an Israeli journalist a few months ago: Israel orchestrated a massive terror campaign against Iran for a number of years. It included assassination of five nuclear scientists (at least fifteen names were on the hit list); a massive explosion at an IRG missile base which killed the commander of the nation’s missile project and entirely wiped out the base; and sabotage of the centrifuges at the Natanz nuclear facility. The Mossad director preceding Pardo, Meir Dagan also boasted that Israel funded and trained the Sunni Jundallah terror group which perpetrated similar terror attacks inside the country. In his interview, Pardo admitted that all these operations failed in their goal to stop Iran’s nuclear program and/or topple the regime.
As I documented through former Israeli defense minister, Binyamin Ben Eliezer, who was then a secret source (before he died he permitted me to reveal his role in my reporting), the Mossad collaborated with the anti-Iran terror group, MeK, in many of these terror operations inside Iran. The relationship between MeK and the Mossad, CIA (Seymour Hersh documented that agency’s involvement in training the MeK’s assassins), and Saudi Arabia is purely cynical and one of convenience. The MeK are a murderous terror cult and ally themselves with the most brutal of Iran’s enemies in order to advance their own violent agenda.
No nation seeking to bring constructive change to Iran could possibly ally themselves with these murderers. The fact that Saddam, the CIA, Mossad, and Saudis have done so indicates they don’t want a different Iran. They want an Iran that is beset by ruin, chaos and dysfunction. They want an Iran that is a failed state. Maybe something like Syria over the past decade. Such a power vacuum would allow the Saudis to rear their ugly heads as the regional hegemon; sitting pretty with the Israelis as the other major power center.
So we’re going back to the future. What failed in the past will become Iran’s future. The waves of violence of the Bush and the early Obama years failed to dislodge the Iranian regime; and did not force the Iranians to bow their necks in subservience. No matter what suffering was thrown at them, they persevered. So why do we think that returning to a failed policy will bring a different result?
Because the same geniuses who brought us the past are now serving us the future: Bolton was Bush’s UN ambassador; Netanyahu was in power during the previous terror campaign. These are not innovative thinkers. They don’t have a lot of tools in their toolbox. The repertoire is quite thin. So beating their head against the wall didn’t kill them last time; let’s try it again, maybe this time it will be different.
Today, Rudy Giuliani did yet another of his handsomely paid 20 minute speeches to a gathering of MeK stooges. Some of the U.S. figures who’ve taken this candy from their MeK Sugar Daddy have earned up to $50,000 a pop. The more prominent you are the higher paid the gig. Given that Rudy is perched on Trump’s shoulders, you can be sure he’s topping out considerably over that $50,000 mark.
Even more interesting is what Rudy told the MeK cult followers:
Rudy Giuliani on Saturday said that U.S. sanctions on Iran are leading to economic pain that could lead to a “successful revolution,” contrasting with administration comments that government change in Tehran is not U.S. policy.
“I don’t know when we’re going to overthrow them,” said Giuliani, who spoke in his own capacity though he is a Trump ally, at an Iran Uprising Summit held by the Organization of Iranian-American Communities, which opposes Tehran’s government.
“It could be in a few days, months, a couple of years. But it’s going to happen.
“The people of Iran obviously have now had enough,” Giuliani said on Saturday. “The sanctions are working. The currency is going to nothing … these are the kinds of conditions that lead to successful revolution.”
This is not only a delusional pipe dream, it’s a dangerous and lethal one. It encourages the same death and destruction perpetrated in earlier years. It will elicit a strong response from Iran. If there is a terror attack against Israel or Saudi Arabia, those countries will scream bloody murder. Terrorists, evil bloodthirsty brutes, they will shout for all the world to hear. But whose fault will it be that Iran responds to the mass violence perpetrated against its citizens inside its own borders?
I believe it is absolutely no accident that Giuliani made this speech the day after the terror attack. It is more than likely that the CIA participated in the planning, logistics and surveillance necessary to carry out such an operation. Not to mention the similar support role the Mossad could play. The Saudi likely are funding these operations as they funded the nuclear sabotage and assassination campaign to the tune of $400-million. As in the past assassinations, the MeK provides the killers on the street who execute the plan. This isn’t a mere claim on my part. This is precisely the game plan from the past.
It’s highly likely our government knew of the plans for this attack before it happened. That would have allowed Giuliani to time his speech perfectly and point to the terror attack as precisely the sort of action which will bring the regime to its knees and overthrow it. So you can see that this campaign, as I mentioned above, is complex, multi-faceted, and very violent. It is just beginning. There are many more horrible crimes we may see in the future until a new President sets a different course.
Returning to the MeK, Pres. Rouhani, who is heading to New York to address the UN General Assembly, directly blamed European states who’ve given the MeK refuge in their borders. He summoned the ambassadors from several EU countries to point out what how their hospitality has been repaid.

@ Li Hing Lo: I’ve read many reports from Iran about this. There are a number of Arab Sunni groups in Iran. They generally do not work with Shiites, but that doesn’t mean MeK wouldn’t work with them. The latter will work with the devil (and they have) if it will advance their interests.
Not to mention that in the Meir Dagan interview I linked (which you clearly haven’t read) he explicitly acknowledges that the Mossad liased with and supported Jundallah and all manner of Iranian dissident groups willing to engage in acts of terror. COnsidering the Mossad works with MeK terrorists and whatever group these terrorists came from, it’s totally conceivable, even likely, MeK played some role in this attack.
MeK has never renounced terror. And it’s not going to start now. It has been a terrorist group since it’s inception. And even if it claimed it was no longer a terror group, it’s even better known for lying through its teeth about virtually anything and everything.
As for your claim of Israeli and U.S. non involvement…you know this how? Really it’s a ridiculous claim to make. I’ve been studying the Mossad and U.S. intelligence operations for years and I know when I smell a rat. And there’s a big fat Mossad/CIA rat involved in this thing.
There is no such thing as “Arab” anything in Iran in terms of provinces or localities. There are Arab Sunni and Persian Shiites who live there. To divide them in the manner you have shows you seek the dissolution of Iran. Which in turn furthers the interests of Israeli intelligence the Mek & other related entities. Whoever you are, you aren’t who you say you are.
At any rate, this province is in Iran. The city in which this occurred is an Iranian one. The fact that you’re touting Sunni domestic terrorists tells us quite a bit about your interests.

Personally I have my doubts about Mark Perry’s account wherein Mossad masqueraded as CIA in order to recruit Jundallah. I think that these ‘Mossad agents’ were actually American cowboys, and Mossad was made into a fall guy.

@ Li Hang Low: If you think Rudy Giuliani doesn’t know the deepest secrets of this terror/terrifying regime in DC you’re crazy. As I wrote, he sits on Trump’s shoulders. Trump considered appointing him attorney general. He has Trump’s complete trust. And anyone, whether CIA director or Secretary of State who wants to curry favor with the boss will know where Giuliani stands in the hierarchy.
I note you also omitted John Bolton who certainly has an equally or more powerful role in Trump’s national security scheme. He’s supported regime change for nearly two decades. How are you going to dismiss him? Surely, you’re such a good apologist for crime and evil, you’ll find a way.

Both CIA and Mossad use the “piggy-back” tactics by infiltrating terror groups to use its network for assassinations. See history of Mossad and Rote Armee Fraktion to avenge the 1972 Massacre of Olympic athletes in Munich. I suspect the same tactics used globally in Lebanon, Syria and Iran.

@Elisabeth: MeK is first and foremost opportunistic. When it needed to it adopted Shiite terms and forms. When it needed to co opt the Communist Tudeh Party it adopted Marxist forms and terms. I don’t think one precluded the other. It is a hybrid.
Mutuality is complicity. The MeK was involved in killing nuclear scientists by sponsors who already have the nuclear “gun”, have or may have tested that “gun”, and are pointing the “gun” at Iran’s head (while robbing its pockets and kicking it in the groin).

I’m looking on Wikipedia and it seems MeK stopped its attacks in 2003. I know many guess the nuclear scientists were murdered by MeK. But can you bring an example from the last 15 years where MeK targeted bystanders who were not involved with the Iranian army or Nuclear program?
