Pres. Trump today went back to war against California, the state he seems to love most to hate. As always, the fight is over immigration and the sanctuary city concept, both of which he detests. Cities around the country (not just in California) are defying the federal government’s attempts to criminalize the act of being an immigrant. They are declining to cooperate with ICE, which seeks collaboration with local law enforcement officials in apprehending “illegal” immigrants.
All of this is not news. But today’s tweet was:

Some media outlets professed not to know what the obscure term “breeding concept” meant. They knew it smacked of something nasty. But they seemed to need Trump to spell it out to them before they’d acknowledge that he said what he appeared to have said. So I’ll spell it out to ya: the foreign, the illegal, the dirty, the violent, the primitive. The “they.” “Those people” who invade our homes, our country, our jobs, our women. They take because that’s just the way they are. They want something for nothing. And above all, they want to take our way of life away from us.
How will they do that? By “breeding” of course. They outbreed us till there are tons more of them than there are of us. Then they’ll use our precious democratic institutions to take over. Leaving us with nothing.
What other animals breed? Rabbits, of course. This sort of thinking turns human beings into animals…or sex machines. And it transforms sex into a political act.
So in case anyone doesn’t get it: the sanctuary movement IS the “breeding concept.” It is a surreptitious way for those left-wing agitators to give the country away to “them.” By encouraging immigrants to remain, by refusing to criminalize them–we allow them to breed us into oblivion.
This is not a new trope. Trump is echoing anti-immigrant, neo-Nazi ideology quite clearly. Look at the Islamophobic hysteria in Europe over Muslims outbreeding white Christians and turning the continent into “Eurabia.”
The same concept informs the Zionist mania about the “demographic threat” posed by “Arabs.” Except here it’s slightly more subtle. What is under consideration is a threat to the “Jewish nature” of Israel. Under this conception, Israel will somehow be deracinated by not defeating the threat posed by a high “Arab” birth rate. That’s why Israel desperately entices Diaspora Jews to make aliyah, as it has since the days of Ben Gurion.
Martin Kramer once infamously suggested at a conference in Israel that it should cut off aid to Gaza in order to discourage Palestinian mothers from producing “superfluous young men.” Presumably, he meant tightening Israel’s illegal siege of Gaza so that less food and less international aid could ameliorate the suffering of Gazans. Let’s call this what it is: advocacy of slow genocide.
The concept of the untermenschen breeding themselves into domination of the white race is outright, full-blown neo-Nazi thought. It permeated Hitler’s obsession with the master race and the threat posed to it by Jewish “vermin” breeding in filth and decay.
This sort of thinking was very popular among U.S. nativist circles in the early 1900s. It of course fueled the rise the Ku Klux Klan; and you can even see it in the race-consciousness of the character of Tom Buchanan in The Great Gatsby. Keep in mind another “character” who advocated such claptrap during this era: none other than Trump’s father, Fred, who was arrested at a Ku Klux Klan rally in Queens in 1927.

Actually, and to take the rather ominous line of thought seriously, I’ll point out that caging people and depriving them of all opportunity for economic activity is NOT a good way to lower their birthrate.
I’m sure you would like to simply apply the Warsaw Ghetto solution to the problem — of that I have all too little doubt — however, absent an environment of total war, it’s just not realistic for a small state like Israel to apply such a ‘solution.’ She’s just too dependent on international opinion. Morality aside, it’s just not feasible.
The Palestinians are going to get fed. You just have to accept that. Given that they are going to get fed, you’re effectively doing all you can to encourage the growth of their population, not discourage it.

Of course, there is plan B — start that total war. Eh Frank? Eh? After all, amid massive terrorist attacks and the mushroom clouds, who’s going to notice what happened to a few million Palestinians. Meh. Would it help to point out that old Fred went on to marry a first-generation immigrant himself — to wit, Trump’s mother, who came from the Isle of Lewis or something?
There’s a fact that all seem to have tacitly agreed not to make hay out of. I think Trump may be the only recent US president with an immigrant mother. Possibly even the only such US president period.
Edit: sigh. It seems Herbert Hoover and Woodrow Wilson had a parent born outside the US. Still, given Trump’s positions…I don’t suppose he’d cotton to ‘yo tambien’ in 2020 as a slogan to get the Hispanic vote? It’d certainly drive the Democrats up the wall.
