Today, Israel’s Attorney General, Yehudah Weinstein, agreed to open a criminal investigation against Judge Rafi Aranya, who was accused three years ago of beating his children. Weinstein did so after News1 and this blog publicly named the judge for the first time and exposed the fact that the AG had shielded the judge from prosecution over that period.
Earlier, the Israeli court system had “encouraged” the judge to “take a vacation,” which seemed sorely deserved under the circumstances.
Yet another indication of the cluelessness of the attorney general is that his spokesperson claimed one of the reasons Weinstein had delayed authorizing the inquiry was to determine whether questioning the children would do more good than harm to them. In my previous post, Weinstein had had the chutzpah to say the only interests he was protecting were those of the children.
This is yet another example of lying with impunity at which Israeli officials are quite expert. You look at the cameras and tell Israelis with utmost sincerity that you’re doing something that is clearly in your own best interest for the good of Israel, the Jewish people, or children. And everyone is supposed to believe you.

Do you mean Israeli politicians and government officials lie? How unusual!! Good thing that our politicians here in America just keep on telling us the truth again and again.
I’ve never found another allegedly democratic country in which so many officials lie so often. Yes, they lie in the U.S. as well. But there is at least some effort here to tell the truth much of the time. That’s all dispensed with in Israel. They lie shamelessly, they lie often, they lie without even caring anyone knows it’s a lie.
Your statements would be more impressive if you actually had data to back them up.
Anyone can take your statement and replace the word Israel with that of any other country and it would sound as impressive.
