The U.S. sent the U.S.S. Ponce, described as a floating command post for forays into Iran, to Gulf waters for the first time. Although, the Ponce has been described as a forward staging base for attacks against Iran by special forces personnel, the latest PR from the Navy minimizes the ship’s offensive capabilities. Instead, it describes it as an anti-mine vessel that can also serve as a floating repair dock for other navy ships.
There can be no doubt that this is further psychological warfare intended to show the Iranians we’re serious about our military threat against them should they go nuclear.
It’s no accident that this photo shows the Ponce as it arrives at port in Bahrain within the past day or so. That country is one of our Middle Eastern allies, whose despotic monarchy we support, despite the fact that it kills and maims its own citizens routinely. Just this week it sentenced the country’s best known blogger to three months in prison for a tweet.
Bahrain, of course, is a mortal enemy of Iran since the former is ruled by minority Sunnis, while Iran is Shiite. Seems like we’re playing the old British imperial divide-and-conquer tactic which worked pretty well for them till it didn’t.
So the US is sending a piece of scrap-metal packed with crewmen to the coast pf Iran?
So you blow it up, with the maximum number of casualties of course and blame it on a Iranian submarine.
The perfect reason to “convince” people to go to war…

An Iranian submarine that looks strangely like on of those ones the Germans gifted to Israel as (even more) “reparations”. They might even paint an Iranian symbol of some kind on it, as the unmarked look from the US Liberty days just seems a little too obvious in this day and age.
The Gulf? The Mexican Gulf? What were Iranians warships doing there?
Oh, the PERSIAN Gulf. Heyyy, what were US Navy ships doing there? Answer: the Pentagon, especially the ONI, and NSA are overrun by foreign interests.
Sorry, I forgot there is no hidden degradation and control of the dialogue. Since Israel’s name is contention, why don’t they equally remove it from the map on Google? 😉
By the way, Richard, there is no Sunni/Shiite divide. BUT, they do try to play the divide and conquer game. The Shiite/Sunni stuff is brought up for internal consumption or to drive agendas that can’t be explained plainly to a public that would outcry against them.
