  1. He’s in all likelihood going to get a suspended sentence and be required to complete an Alcohol addiction program, hence the guilty plea probably done at the behest of a deal with the prosecutor. I doubt he’ll do any serious time at all. Oh America…

    1. Are you a prosecutor? Former prosecutor? Fr. whence your legal knowledge on these issues? Threatening to kill a U.S. Congressman is pretty serious business in this day & age esp. after Gabrielle Giffords. I say you’re gonna be proven wrong. The guy’s gonna do time.

      1. I hope you’re right. But look at what happened to John W. Hinckley, Jr. His family was very wealthy and despite the fact that he shot a President and three others he was found innocent by reason of insanity. He’s been in psychiatric care ever since – such care has included both supervised and unsupervised releases. One need not have been a prosecutor to know that if someone accused of a crime can afford top notch legal assistance, such a person can get a much lighter sentence. But again, I hope you’re right and that he will do significant time, especially in light of what happened to Congresswoman Gifford.
