    1. Ilan’s link may be correct or not, but we also have to be careful with Richard’s theory since his otherwise usually reliable source is from “Barak’s inner circle” and has a vested interest in washing Ashkenazi’s laundry in public and to exalt Barak.

Ashkenazi has always been seen as “Mr. Clean” amongst the top Generals.

      1. Shmuel, you really should stop letting the Israeli Media influence you in such a way.
The media supported Ashkenazi and opposed Galant because of their stands during cast lead.
Galant is absolutely 100% right in his allegations, that this was a directed attempt to prevent him from becoming the next IDF COS, the most outraging fact his that the same thing his being accused of (giving a false statement) didn’t prevent Moshe Lador from becoming the State Attorney.

Askenazi, was seeing as Mr. clean only by the media, if you’ll listen carefully to what Beni Ganz said after the Harpez document was brought to light, you would be able to see that he didn’t think like you.

        1. Ilan: I haven’t noticed any monolithic organisation called “the media” – the major newspapers and TV outlets often have opposing stances on all major issues.

And of course I’m influenced by them all and so are you and everyone else who follows various media. That’s how people form their opinions. Blogging is also “media” and it also influences me.

What I said is after I’ve been influenced. I’ve no problem with that.

          1. Books are just another form of media portraying the opinion of the writers – even those apparently portraying “facts”.

If that were not the case we’d all agree on everything once we read the “facts” For some reason we don’t!

  1. Shmuel,
I Strongly suggest you will start reading other “media” publications.
for starts you can watch today’s Mabat here http://www.iba.org.il/media/?recorded=1 time marker 1:04
gag order was issue for this new investigation which has nothing to do with the original harpaz letter.
if you would know the real details in which the one you called “me. clean” is involved in matters that have a direct potential to harm the security of the state of Israel, the hair you don’t have will raise.

  2. RE: “This is more like opera buffa…” – R.S.
MY TAKE: All roads lead to Chinatown (1974).
    MORGUE SCENE
Morty (the mortician): “Can you believe it? We’re in the middle of a drought, and the water commissioner drowns. Only in L.A.”
SCENE OUTSIDE THE “PIG ‘N WHISTLE”
Noah Cross: “You may think you know what you’re dealing with, but, believe me, you don’t.”
    [Gittes grins]
Noah Cross: “Why is that funny?”
Jake Gittes: “That’s what the District Attorney used to tell me in Chinatown.”
P.S. Jerry Goldsmith’s haunting score is one of the very best in the history of film.

  3. There s something rather tawdry about Ashkenazi and his spouse. I cannot put my finger on it, but from the various reports that I read and the latest update on Israeli T.V it appears like a plot most unbecoming. Those who lived through the “Lavon Affair” know that the truth if it ever comes out will be served in tiny morsels over a long period of time. All the Israeli media never bothered to explain clearly the basic principals of the plot. Being inspired by the politically correct American media which tends to either say nothing or serve the ends of their protagonist, they never made the case of who did wha and why. This entire episode is rather unprecedent and very disappointing for anyone who wore the IDF uniform
