  1. Congratulations! Glad to hear your work will be seen by, and have an opportunity to influence, a wider audience.

  2. Excellent news, Richard! I’m really glad to read about this. Your work definitely deserves to be read by a wider audience. I’ll have to check out the site.

  3. I join the others in congratulating you, Richard. The wider your work is strewn the better. I’ve been forwarding your stuff on my own mailing list for some time.

Yours is one of the more reasonable voices in today’s debates. I only wish you would open your eyes about O-man, so you won’t be too disappointed when his true allegiance is exposed.

  4. Congratulations, Richard. You’re the best of the bunch. Or, rather, you’re my favorite of the bunch, which I guess isn’t the same thing. Phil are Helena are just as good in their own different ways. Echoing above, you definitely deserve to be heard by a wider audience. How about the NY Times editorial page?

I say, get rid of the worthless Tom Friedman, David Brooks, Gail Collins, and who else?, there’s one or two other wastes of space in there, and put in Richard Silverstein, alongside Paul Krugman, Bob Herbert, Roger Cohen… Now, THAT would represent the first seedlings of improvement in American commentary.

    1. You flatter me. But thanks all the same. I can’t even get a letter to the editor published in the Times after years of trying, so I think we’ll have to wait for the Messiah to come before I get an actual story published there. But it’s still a nice thought & I thank you for it.

I do like Gail Collins though. It’s Maureen Dowd (along w. the others you mention) I don’t have too much use for.

      1. There was a bit of humor in the NY Times thing, I’m afraid you’re a little too off-the-reservation for our august friends over at the paper of record (that’s a good thing, by the way). Maybe if we can shift the culture a bit. Really not flattering you, either, I consider our elite media to be chock full of mediocrity. A requirement of establishment media editorializing seems to be the shutting down of the little gray cells, if they were there to begin with. The notable thing about the Times is that there are a couple of exceptions to this rule on the op/ed page.

Frankly, I wouldn’t use the Washington Post Op/Ed to wipe my derriere with. Pure unadulterated insipid & bloodthirsty trash. The American people deserve so much better than this. All I’ve got outside of the internet, alternative print media, and the foreign press (mainly the London Independent & Guardian), is Bill Moyers Journal and NOW on PBS. We’ve gotta start somewhere, though.

P.S.—you like Gail Collins? I read a couple and that was it for me. I’ll give her another try, though. Agree about Dowd (knew I was forgetting a few), gossip laden content-free Schlock, though she has a clever turn of phrase once in a while.

  5. Mazel Tov Richard – that’s great news – I look forward to reading your posts there as well! Keep up the great work!

  6. Congratulations, Richard. I’ve always been grateful I found your blog. With so much email to read these days a lot gets deleted, but I always read yours – and all the comments.

  7. I would like to add my congratulations, Richard. Firedoglake is an incredibly honorable space.

I also know everyone will want to get the latest copy of The Israel Project’s Global Language Dictionary, which Newsweek posted last night. It contains the obnoxious new argument that removal of the settlements is ethnic cleansing.

  8. Congrats, Richard! I’ll also be blogging at Tikkun, and as a long time fan of yours, it’ll be fun to be bouncing off each other. And firedoglake is exactly what Ilene says; an honourable space.

  9. Congratulations Richard, I enjoy reading both you and Phil Weiss immensely. I don’t always agree with what you have to say but your posts are always thoughtful and well-reasoned. A real pleasure to read. Glad it is now being disseminated to a wider audience. Kudos!

  10. Congratulations. I’m glad you can work together with Rabbi Lerner and his friends on Tikkun. I have supported their work also, and I think a lot of good can come from your cooperation.
    Best wishes.
    Erwin
