  1. Lets hope Gideon is correct. Olmert’s wife and daughter are fairly progressive I believe – well more than he is at least.
Never underestimate the power of dinner time conversations and political pillow talk.

  2. I watched a TV program on Prime Minister Olmert’s wife and family — they are very accomplished, progressive and impressive. They are against the Occupation and Settlements and are a big influence upon the Prime Minister.

Whatever the reason–perhaps common sense– it is with great relief that right wingers like Olmet are realizing that the Occupation and Settlelments are a threat to the future of Israel. (I only wish that they and AIPAC worried about the threat the theft of Palestinian land water is to each and every American).

As I write this, CNN announced that Lieberman is pulling out of the government. Perhaps Gideon Levy’s solution of a new coaltion with Meretz is being realized as at this moment. We can hope!

  3. I’d like some of what Levy is smoking.
    Here’s his “Man of Peace”:

“Israeli air strikes killed five Palestinians, including a mother and child, in the Gaza Strip on Thursday as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert vowed to wage a “war” to stop rocket attacks on the Jewish state.”

    NYTimes, 1/17.
