Steven Plaut (splaut@econ.haifa.ac.il, IP: 132.74.72.6) is a notorious Kahanist and Israeli “academic” who was convicted of libeling a fellow Israeli academic peace activist a few years ago. Apparently, even after his conviction the University of Haifa retained him on its faculty. This blog has developed a little side industry of exposing the hate and smears of Jewish Kahanists after we reported the Masada2000 site to its web host and outed Allyson Rowen Taylor here and in the Jewish Forward for stalking a Jewish peace activist and accusing him of supporting the murder of his fellow Jews.
For a few years now, members of the Alef academic discussion list (devoted to debate about the Israeli-Arab conflict) have received serial harassing e mails sometimes sent by Los Angeles Kahanist, Rachel Neuwirth or her allies. I’ve started keeping an archive of the e mails in hopes of exposing them and their writers to public opprobrium. Apparently, Steve and Rachel have been kvelling in that twisted sort of way that Kahanists have over the suffering of a fellow Jew. After Israeli professor Tanya Reinhart died last week they really got to work concocting a witch’s brew of hate. I’ve already written about one e mail I received insulting Reinhart’s memory. Tonight I received another directly from Neuwirth. But what was new about this was an attached e mail she included. The attached e mail was from Steven Plaut, who used the University of Haifa e mail server to forward an e mail list of all Alef members so that Neuwirth could send the following e mail to each of them:

I have forwarded a complaint to the University rector, department chair and computing division director. Clearly, Plaut believes that by conspiring with Neuwirth he can skirt the university’s telecommunications rules. She sends out the offending e mail and he merely forwards the email address distribution list to her but doesn’t take a direct part in the act of harassment. It’s kind of like Kahanist tag-team wrestling. But down and dirty style. If you have received this e mail yourself please forward your own complaint to these faculty staff members. Ask them whether the University condones the abuse of its computing systems to insult the memory of a fellow Israeli faculty member.
We Jews cherish the memory of the dead. And insulting the dead is one of the most heinous acts one can perform: truly a hillul hashem (desecration of God’s name).
