Rick Sanchez hangs self on air

In reading the melodrama of Rick Sanchez’ implosion in front of a national radio audience when he called Jon Stewart both a “white liberal,” “bigot,” and “Jew,” not necessarily in that order, I was reminded how racism is an equal opportunity employer.  Just because you’re a discriminated-against minority doesn’t mean that you too can’t be racist.  During a radio interview meant to plug his new book, Sanchez recounted his own history of being the victim of prejudice at the hands of a CNN boss who wouldn’t consider him as a news anchor.

Then he proved that despite suffering prejudice, he could dish it out as well:

Mr. Sanchez called Mr. Stewart a “bigot,” but later took the word back, calling the comedian “prejudicial” instead.

Prejudicial “against who?” Mr. Dominick asked.

Mr. Sanchez said, “Against anybody who doesn’t agree to his point of view, which is very much a white liberal establishment point of view.”

One of the co-hosts of the radio show brought up the fact that Mr. Stewart is a Jew, saying to Mr. Sanchez, he is a minority “as much as you are.”

Mr. Sanchez answered sarcastically, “Yeah. Yeah. Very powerless people.” He let out a high-pitched laugh.

“Everybody that runs CNN is a lot like Stewart,” Mr. Sanchez said. “And a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart. And to imply that somehow they — the people in this country who are Jewish — are an oppressed minority? Yeah.”

Of course, what’s ironic about all this is that Sanchez had his many detractors at CNN, but one of his supporters was Jonathan Klein, undoubtedly one of those white-liberal-Jew-Jon Stewart types he so despises.  Contemporary society pits all minorities against each other in a dog-eat-dog world.  It’s divide and conquer so The Man ends up always winning.  So if Rick Sanchez doesn’t get his promotion it must be because of all those white liberal Jew CNN editors like Jon Stewart who disparage him because he’s Hispanic.

I know who will snatch up his contract: FoxNews.  That’s a marriage made in heaven–or Republican National Committee headquarters.

Holy cow! The messiah must be on his way.  The Israel Project sent out an e mail blast to its activists which is so nakedly honest (and damaging) that it must be seen to be believed:

As to research on saying that there isn’t a “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza and that no one is starving, we will have that on what Luntz and Greenberg are testing next week. But you don’t need that data to know it is a complete dead-end of a message. Reporters and leaders all over Washington are complaining about this and some say they see Israel and cold and heard hearted.  Given that 6 more flotillas are headed to Israel (including one of Jews from Germany and one of Jews from the UK) we need to make sure we understand this well.

Watch this from Jon Stewart. Watch to the end and listen to how they react to when Krauthammer uses the message…ouch!

Clearly we need to be saying that “While no one is starving in Gaza because Israel delivers so much aid, there IS suffering in Gaza. We want the suffering to stop. That is why Iran-backed Hamas must stop using supplies for rockets and Hamas must release Gilad Shalit. Hamas must be accountable for their actions and for the suffering they are causing their OWN people.”

On a good note, the topic in the US tonight will shift to energy. Alternative energy is obviously a great topic for Israel as Israel has much to say that could help on this.

Gee, thanks Jennifer for putting Israel’s hasbara effort out there for all the world to see.  You concede Israel cannot win on the Gaza siege and don’t even need your trusty pollster flack Frank Luntz to tell you that.  Though maybe you’ll share the poll results with us so we can see for ourselves how badly the message polls?

Despite your honesty, I’m afraid it doesn’t extend to how Israel should end the suffering in Gaza.  Instead of the obvious lifting of the blockade, you as usual blame the Gazans for their own suffering by falsely claiming that Hamas is responsible for it when you and the rest of the world know that Israel is fully responsible for Gaza’s suffering.

Do keep that hasbara coming about Israel as the beacon of alternative energy.  Why don’t you also recommend that Israel cap that BP well in the Gulf of Mexico.  Perhaps it can spare one of its nuclear weapons to collapse the well in on itself as some experts have suggested?  Don’t you think that would actually be a beneficial use of Israel’s nuclear weapons instead of threatening its enemies with mass destruction as Israel’s leaders, generals, and policy analysts regularly do (viz. Lebanon 2006, Gaza 2008, Iran, etc.)?

Stewart: “Does Obama have “pander?” (Daily Show)

Thanks to Phil Weiss for noting that Jon Stewart has taken on AIPAC in one of his monologues. Much of the comedy was shticky, but there were a few real zingers. Like Stewart calling the AIPAC conference-goers “the elders of Zion.”

In comparing the candidates’ fawning references to their trips to Israel, Stewart poked special ridicule at McCain, who told the audience he went there with “Senator Lieberman.” To which Stewart replied:

Senator, when you go to Israel you don’t need to bring your own Jew.

And I especially enjoyed this pointed segment:

The key for Obama is does he have ‘pander.’ [Image displays Obama lapel pin worn during AIPAC speech] The senator appears to have gone from no lapel pin to the Siamese Israeli-U.S. flag double lapel pin.

But we’ll save the best for last:

One part about being a good friend to a country like Israel is constructive criticism of any of its policies that may not be in the best interest of the world. So let’s hear the candidates’ critiques of current Israeli policy. [Images of Obama, Clinton and McCain standing silently] Oh, I forgot. You can’t say anything remotely critical of Israel and still get elected president. Which is funny because you know where you can criticize Israel? Ah…Israel.

Bravo, Stewart! Frankly, I can’t remember any comedian taking on such a subject especially not on TV. Face it, the AIPACers are now the butt of jokes, which is only as it should be.
