Settler Rabbi: Celebrating Murder of Palestinians ‘Great Mitzvah’

Friday, October 15th, 2010
settlers celebrate murdered palestinians

'Celebrate the extermination of the Arab terrorists'

You may remember during the 1991 Iraq war that Saddam launched several SCUDs which hit Tel Aviv and killed an Israeli.  There was dancing on the rooftops in the West Bank.  Israelis were aghast and used that for years as an indignant proof of the brutishness of the Palestinian national movement.  Now picture this, Palestinian militants murder four Jewish settlers from the most extremist of all settler groups.  In the ensuing days, the IDF hunts down those it alleges to have planned and executed the attack and mows them down, in at least one instance killing a sleeping man in his bed.  No proof ever offered.  None needed.  No trial, of course because this is justice-IDF style.

The result: a Simchat Torah style settler celebration of cold-blooded murder replete with dancing, joy, smiles, abundant feasting, etc.  The poster begins with a verse from Psalms 58:10 expressing joy in vengeance:

The righteous man will be joyful when he sees they are avenged,
The soles of his feet washed in the blood of evil [doer].

rabbi ben zion motzpi

Rabbi Ben Zion Mutzafi: 'great mitzvah' to celebrate the murder of one's enemy

Is this ghoulishness Judaism?  Is my religion one that bathes in the blood of its enemies?  God forbid.  It reminds me more of Nosferatu or Lady Macbeth bathing in the blood of her enemies.

An article in the settler publication, S’rugim, notes that Rabbi Ben Tzion Mutzafi declares that it is “permissible to celebrate the death of terrorists.”  Not Israeli terrorists of course.  Only the bestial non-Jewish kind. He adds: “On the contrary it is a great mitzvah” because a Biblical verse says that “there is joy in the destruction of evildoers.”

The poster concludes by calling on all of the Jewish people to arise to the Temple Mount, which carries with it the implicit call to rebuild the Holy Temple and destroy the Muslim holy places there: a tacit call for holy war against Islam.

Seven Knesset members are listed as endorsing and attending this bacchanalia of blood even including a member of Kadima, Yulia Berkovitch.

If Palestinians were brutes for dancing over the death of an Israeli then the settlers are equally beastly for their antics.  Apparently, these faux Jews have forgotten the Midrash in which God silences His angels when they celebrate at the drowning of Pharoah’s army in the Red Sea:

My creatures are drowning in the sea and you rejoice?”

Yariv Oppenheimer also points to this wonderful verse from Proverbs 24:17:

בנפול אוייבך אל תשמח (“Do not rejoice when your enemies fall.”)

To these disgusting excuses for Jews, Palestinians are not human.  Which of course justifies any Palestinian militant who sees Jews as less than human.

A bruch on all of ‘em, I say.  H/t Ofer Neiman.

Avi Yakobov Finally ‘Outed’ by Israeli Media

avi yakobov yediot article

'Runnin' down de road with a pistol in yer waist, Avi, yer too bad'--Jimmy Cliff

It took too long, but thanks to this blog and Yossi Gurvitz exposing Avi Yakobov, the IDF abuser in the YouTube video, Yediot Achronot has finally publicly named him and his role.

Several oddball things about the report worth noting which reflect on Yakobov’s and the IDF’s true brutishness.  When Yediot’s reporter appeared at Yakobov’s home asking to interview him, the latter had a friend over apparently for personal protection.  The friend lifted his shirt to reveal a pistol in his waist, GoodFellas-style.  I guess Yakobov and his “friend” thought they were players in a Marty Scorcese movie, Israel-style.

This cinematic scene also brought to mind that brilliant Jimmy Cliff song from the film, The Harder They Come:

Runnin’ down de road with a pistol in yer waist, Johnny yer too bad…

Too bad, indeed.

The IDF, feeble fellas that they are responded to a query from the reporter by saying that the incidents in which Yakobov participated happened two years ago and since he is no longer in the IDF they’ve been reported to the Israeli police.  A nice way to wash their hands of the entire matter.  The act of abuse happened while Yakobov wore an IDF uniform, therefore passing the case off to the police is entirely inappropriate and indicates yet again the culture of impunity regarding human rights; with the difference that usually a public embarrassment like a YouTube video or Goldstone Report has brought forth some substantive accountability from the IDF–not this time though apparently.

I was disappointed that neither Yediot nor Gurvitz thought it appropriate to credit this blog with being the original source reporting this story.

Possible Mossad Role in Deadly Iran Revolutionary Guard Blast

Friday, October 15th, 2010
shebab 3 missile

Shebab 3 missile lauch

One never knows how much to attribute such stories to Israel’s predilection for Psyops against their Arab enemies, but several credible Israeli sources are claiming that Israel’s Mossad had a hand in the blast that rocked the Imam Ali Revolutionary Guard missile base in Iran yesterday killing 18 and presumably destroying a major portion of the base with a major explosion and fire.  The N.Y. Times reports that the facility houses the country’s Shebab 3 medium range ballistic missiles.  Presumably, if Iran ever developed a nuclear weapon, these missiles would be a possible payload vehicle.  A possible Israeli attack would continue its reported efforts to undermine such capability.

If these sources are correct, then it’s no accident that this military disaster occurred just a few hours before the Iranian president touched down on Lebanese soil, where he was expected to thumb his nose at Israel and attack Hezbollah’s political opponents inside Lebanon.  The attack would’ve been timed to cause maximum embarrassment.  No doubt, his security detail expected that Israel would attempt to launch a direct attack on him there.  A Knesset member as much as begged Israel’s security services to do so.  But devastating a major military facility inside Iran would be a deft move coming from the Mossad.

Here’s the evidence supporting my conjecture.  Haaretz’s military correspondent, Yossi Melman, wrote in today’s edition:

According to intelligence and a new appraisal, it’s possible that the explosion was not an accident, but an attack designed to target this specific missile base…In the past, foreign sources have claimed that Israel, through the Mossad, had activated Iranian opposition elements and underground groups opposed to the rule of the Ayatollahs, giving them a mission of performing acts of terror…

Yediot Achronot further reports that Global Security raised the distinct possibility that this may be an act of terror, and not an accident given the critical nature and function of this facility.

The Times article points to which of these opposition groups might’ve been behind the attack:

…The base is near the city of Khorramabad…and close to Iran’s restive Kurdistan region, the site in recent months of several attacks on Revolutionary Guards installations and personnel.

Last week, two Guards soldiers and five Kurdish militants were killed in a gunfight in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province.

In September, a bomb attack on a military parade in the ethnic Kurdish city of Mahabad killed 12 civilian spectators and wounded dozens more. Iranian officials accused “the Zionist regime and its allies” of masterminding the attack. State media said that Revolutionary Guards forces crossed into neighboring Iraq over the following days, killing 30 Kurdish fighters who were said to be involved in the bombing.

Another intriguing sidebar to this story is a report published several hours before the blast by Yediot’s Smadar Perry, the paper’s security correspondent, who is known to have close connections with Israeli intelligence.  In the run-up to Ahmedinejad’s visit to Lebanon, she coyly wrote the following about how Israel’s intelligence community was responding to the trip:

What are they doing?  Shutting their mouths tight.  But anxious, in our own peculiar way to spoil his [Ahmedinejad's] little celebration.

She further wrote about what Israel understood to be Iran’s security preparations for the trip:

Yediot Achronot has come to know that in recent days Iran has transferred from Teheran senior security and intelligence operatives to Beirut.  They warn of an extraordinary act by Israel in Lebanon having the purpose of spoiling the visit and threatening the life of Hassan Nasrallah.

It would be a deft act of dissimulation to make Iran and Hezbollah think it would attack in Lebanon all the while planning to attack a target in the heart of Iran and one deeply valued by Iran’s military.

Geller’s Multi-Million Dollar NYC, Florida Digs

330 east 57th street pam geller's building

A representative condo listing in Pam Geller's East 57th Street building

Pam Geller doesn’t suffer for her art.  Her N.Y. Times profile noted that she owns a full-floor Eastside Midtown condo (330 East 57th Street).  Condos in the same building have gone for nearly $2. 75-million with yearly maintenance fees over $100,000.  In addition, she appears to own a second residence in upscale L’Hermitage II in Ft. Lauderdale (3200 North Ocean Blvd.) worthy nearly $1-million.  Strangely, she signed over the Florida condo to her ex-husband for only $10 only weeks before he died in 2008.  Hard to conceive of any reason why anyone would deed a major piece of property to one’s ex-spouse who was already remarried. Since she continues to produce Vlogs from the Florida residence and the tax bill for the property is still sent to her address, the settlement of Oshry’s estate may have deeded it back to her.

Now, I can understand what David Yerushalmi sees in having Geller as a client, as long as she pays her bills.  I presume he isn’t representing her pro bono.

I wonder whether Geert Wilders gets the full Geller treatment when he visits New York–a guest room with sweeping views of the midtown skyline perhaps?  That would explain some of the allure she may have for him.

If I were Jay Marcus, president of the most successful U.S. settler fundraising project, the Central Fund of Israel, I’d have Pam in my sights for a large tax-deductible donation.  Though it remain to be seen whether Geller has any sense of the Jewish obligation to offer tzedakah to those in need (not that the settlers are).  My guess is that a Jewish girl from Hewlett who marries into money tends to see the world as owing her rather than the other way around.

One of the many odd revelations about Geller provided by the Times profile was that after 9/11 she underwent a period of ‘study’ of Islam.  Don’t worry.  She didn’t trouble her pretty little head with any heavy intellectual lifting or visits to a research library or courses at a university or even reading a historical source.

Who were her teachers?  A Muslim?  No.  Not even the neocon darling, Bernard Lewis.  I suppose for the reason that he may use too many multi-syllable words.  Who is one of her tutors?  Daniel Pipes.  I kid you not.  And then she adds that she’s broken with Pipes because he actually has the temerity to believe there is such a thing as a moderate Muslim, a possibility Geller denies.

Geller’s Wealth from Corruption, Fraud; Dealership She Co-Owned Supplied Cop-Killer Getaway Car

pam geller frisked by police

Geller frisked by Kennedy Airport security

Pam Geller’s N.Y. Times profile reveals her enormous wealth including a $4-million divorce settlement, a $5-million life insurance on the death of her ex-husband, Michael Oshry (her married name was Pamela G. Oshry), and a portion of the $2-million sale of the Hewlett Harbor home she jointly owned with Oshry.  All of which allows her to live in luxury on an entire floor of upper Eastside condo.

What isn’t as well-known, and was whitewashed from her Times profile, is that the basis of her wealth is a criminal enterprise.  Michael Oshry, her ex-husband who died of an alleged heart attack in 2008, owned a large Long Island car dealership which operated a scam allowing buyers to purchase cars using fraudulent identities.  Such a scam is perfect for organized crime and others seeking to use cars in the commission of felonies.  In fact, one such vehicle was used by a former car salesman to murder two New York City police officers.  An employee who discovered the scam was murdered execution-style.

Geller was listed as a co-owner of the dealership though she denied any knowledge of the fraud.  However, the head of the local D.A.’s economic crimes unit is quoted as saying that the owners of the dealership knew about, and possibly actively organized the fraud, which implies that either Geller had to know about it or willfully kept herself in the dark:

Peress said the corruption at Universal “went all the way to the top.”

So Pam’s denials ring hollow.  If the origins of her wealth are based on a criminal enterprise is it any wonder that her political views are equally corrupt?

I note the Times profile reveals that Geller’s personal attorney is David Yerushalmi, who incorporated the non-profit entity under which she and Robert Spencer produce their blogs.  This in turn allows David Horowitz to plow funds into their enterprise that have been given on a tax-deductible basis.  Yerushalmi is also representing her in a $10 million defamation lawsuit brought by the family of Rifqa Bary, a teenage girl torn from her Muslim-American family by Christian evangelicals who inveigled her into converting to Christianity and running away from their home while still a minor.

Yerushalmi appears to be grasping Geller and Spencer’s coattails to become the “go to” lawyer for the radical anti-jihadi movement in this country.  He’s the legal counsel for Frank Gaffney’s anti-Muslim Center for Security Policy and served in the same role for Stop the Madrassa, the group which got Debbie Almontaser fired as principal of the Khalil Gibran Academy.

Pam Geller is the National Inquirer of the far-right blogworld.  A perfect example of this is her claim that Barack Obama is the love child of Malcolm X.

If Pam is the National Inquirer of the anti-jihad movement, then David Yerushalmi is it’s Roy Cohn.

What’s interesting about Geller’s Rifqa Bary crusade is that, being a Jewish am ha’aretz who knows next to nothing about Jewish history (her sister is quoted as saying to the Times her family practiced “fashion show” Judaism), she is no doubt unaware of such major 19th century controversies as the forced conversion of the Jewish child, Edgardo Mortara, to Roman Catholicism.  This case riveted Jews and non-Jews of the world and pointed out to Jews how powerless they were against the forces of the Church arrayed against them.  The child was raised Catholic, became a priest, and served as a stain on Jewish-Catholic relations for generations.

Similarly, the Bary case has generated enormous anger on the part of American Muslim toward fundamentalist Christianity.  Geller, out of her deep-seated animus toward Islam, has made common cause with those Christian evangelicals which both converted Bary and persuaded her to become a runaway.

geller supports english defence league

Geller: 'How I wish I could be there to stand with the English Defence League.'

Similarly, and again out of her hatred of Islam, she has made common cause with some of Europe’s scummiest neo-Nazi groups simply because the enemy of her enemy is her friend.  No matter that some of her allies have been photographed giving Nazi salutes (and you can imagine their views about Jews).

This is simply a case of someone who is clearly a deeply troubled person and somewhat of a sociopath in the sense that she has no clear sense of truth or even objective reality.  She is such a narcissist that she has no notion that she could ever be wrong about anything.  Though it seems hard to believe, I don’t think she has the capacity to understand that she lies.  It’s as if any statement in furtherance of her interests is justified, whether true or not.  Further, anyone who is against her is not just wrong, but becomes a mortal enemy in a life and death struggle between good and evil.  She, of course, represents good and the rest of the world, evil.

In Geller’s lawsuit, Yerushalmi and Geller are using precisely the same arguments I am using in a similar defamation suit brought by Rachel Neuwirth:

…Blogger Pamela Geller also says many of the postings singled out in a federal lawsuit could fall into the realm of hyperbole and not defamation.

Geller says in a federal court filing Tuesday that she is a journalist writing about a matter of public interest and is protected by the First Amendment.

The difference in the cases is that Geller, as is her wont, published objectively false claims about Bary’s parents.  One wonders whether they’re able to come up with reason why their case is worthy of this defense while the case of someone they conceive as an enemy of the Jewish people isn’t.

IDF Military Exercise Prepares for Syrian Invasion, Chief of Staff Calls for Taking Battle to Enemy

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

The next time any of my pro-Israelist readers seek to make the argument that Israel only wants peace and only engages in defensive military operations, they’ll have to deal with this important speech (Hebrew) delivered by Gaby Ashkenazi to a military audience:

idf exercise syrian invasion

IDF exercise prepares for Syrian invasion (IDF)

Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi spoke today (Tuesday) to participants in a series of combat exercises hosted by the Integrated Land Warfare forces. According to Ashkenazi, “the threats and challenges to the IDF on our borders require us to be ready to activate all our power. When we consider the enemy [Syria], you can’t help but be impressed that among our capabilities, we will have to bring to bear heavy firepower and also have to maneuver in enemy territory. He added that the next battle must be decisive “so that no one will ask who won and who lost.”  We must win it quickly, bringing to bear decisive superiority of forces and taking the battle to the enemy.”

Units participating in the exercise included infantry, armor, air force, artillery, combat engineering and intelligence. One of the objectives was conquering and occupying a Syrian village using all aspects of intelligence gathering, assault and transfer of forces which this [a Syrian invasion] entails.

There is certainly an element of bluff and bluster in this.  Both the exercise and speech are as much Psyops as expression of explicit intent.  So we must take it with a certain grain of salt.  But as I’ve said many times here, especially in the Mideast, be careful what you prepare for because it has a nasty habit of happening.  In other words, if you expect a war and prepare to invade your enemy, your enemy responds in kind and before you know it you are at war–no matter what your original intent may have been.

So no matter what the intent of this exercise and speech, in the powderkeg that is the Israeli-Arab conflict, any party who makes such bellicose statements has as much as done the deed.  If the chief of staff says “next time” we must invade Syria, then we must take him at his word that he is fully prepared to do so and might at any moment.  The lessons learned in the lead-up to both the 1967 and 1973 Wars tell us that threats have a way of coming true.

This means that Ashkenazi’s speech is the height of irresponsibility.  It means that we must see Israel as a direct threat to peace in the region.  It means that we must prepare as if Israel intends to invade Syria in order to accomplish whatever vague political goals it might have.  Of course, such a war would be not just foolish, but dunderheaded.  But that’s never stopped Israel before.

It’s tempting to regard this military exercise in the context of the military-police exercise reported last week which simulated massive civil strife after a so-called “peace agreement” in which Israel would forcibly expel much of its Palestinian citizens to the new Palestinian state.  In such an eventuality, it might be expected that Syria might feel it had a dog in the fight as well and might mobilize its own forces.  So one wonders whether there is a far more comprehensive strategic plan at work here and what precisely it might be.

Pam Geller Lies About Her Site Stats

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Proof that Pam Geller lies about her site stats

Funny thing…Pam Geller is whining at her blog about the profile the Times did her the favor of publishing.  She even says they lied about her.

Well, Pam is a liar herself…about her site stats.  And the N.Y. Times took her word for it and published the following false statement:

Atlas Shrugs…gets about one million unique visitors a month…

I wonder what sort of due diligence the Times fact checkers did on that one.

Her claim struck me as awfully high so I started to do some research.  Alexa ranks her site 23,000 in the world.  My site is currently ranked around 150,000 and I get about 70-90,000 unique visitors a month.  So I asked myself how can a blog ranked 23,000 get that many hits? It just didn’t ring true.

So I asked a reader with deep IT/SEO experience to help me pinpoint her monthly readership.  This is what he came up with:

Geller’s claim of a million hits per month, as usual, is a lie. Her hit rates are half that.  Her 90-day daily average is 17,334, which is 520,020 per month.

I did a comparison of several more websites using information on bizinformation.ca (which shows 90-day historical data) and the thing that really stands out is that external links really weight blog rankings. In other words, you’ve got to get more people linking to your website.

Geller uses advertisements from Newsmax to inflate her links. She has a lot of links from michellemalkin, little green footballs, jihad watch, pajamasmedia, fox news, and yid with lid. The demographics of all these are about the same: older, male, tea party.

You can see her “backlinks” (those who link to her) here.

atlas shrugged stats sitemeter

Sitemeter proves Pam Geller lies

Even if you use the more generous terms of Sitemeter, which I display here her best month in the past year doesn’t even reach 900,000 unique visits.  Her average over that year is closer to 600,000+.  So much for honesty.

Interestingly, Atlas Shrugged is ranked 13,000 in Israel.  This blog outranks her at 8,000.

Justice Captain George-Style: Excusing ‘Family Honor’ Violence

Monday, October 11th, 2010

I exposed here the fact that Doron Zahavi aka Captain George, the notorious torturer of Mustafa Dirani and assorted Lebanese prisoners when he served in military intelligence, became the Jerusalem Police Arab affairs liaison.  His new role put him in a position to impose on East Jerusalem’s Palestinian community the same sort of highly-professional law enforcement techniques he used to such memorable effect while serving in the IDF.

I’ve already documented the threats he levelled against one community activist who he attempted to coerce into becoming an informant.  Now comes word of an amazing undertaking he made to an Israeli court (pdf) during a domestic violence proceeding.  Two brothers violently assaulted their sister and sister’s husband using their fists, a stick and screwdriver as weapons.  The sister pressed charges against her brothers.  But the prosecution asked the court to release the brothers.  It seems that Doron Zahavi cooked up a Sulha (reconciliation ceremony) at which neither the sister nor her brothers were present.  Undetermined third parties undertook on behalf of victim and perpetrator that there would be peace in the family.

Zahavi could not tell the judge who was present during the Sulha nor what specifically was discussed.  He asked the judge to trust in him as a police officer that he would assure the safety of the victims.  He also made the astonishing argument that releasing the perpetrators would decrease the danger to the sister and her husband because family members would be less inclined to take vengeance on them.  Judge Moshe HaCohen’s ruling denying the motion for release did not look kindly on Zahavi’s maneuver (translation Dena Shunra):

…The weight given…to the words of Mr. Zehavi, the Arab Affairs Consultant to the Commander of the Jerusalem District, should be wondered at. It is possible that Mr. Zehavi’s conclusion, that the release of the respondent could reduce the pressure against the complainants, and especially against the female complainant, and prevent additional damage to her may be factually correct in accordance with his professional experience, although the factual foundation for this conclusion was not specified, and in fact involves only a telephone call between him and the probation officer, not supported by documents. However, even if this conclusion is in fact correct, it cannot serve as the foundation for a decision about release on bail.  Relying on such a statement in fact constitutes rewarding the harming party and giving the complainant the message that the legal authorities cannot protect him….

The claim that it would be best to release a defendant in violent crimes and threats against someone complaining with the background of “family honor”, in order to reduce the pressure and motivation for additional harming of that same complainant by the [original] perpetrator and his friends and relations is an argument which would best not be made by a person who represents the law enforcement authorities.

Zahavi is responsible for the torture and sexual brutalization of male prisoners under his command.  How safe should a judge consider anyone to be under Zahavi’s alleged protection?

The Israeli police have a long history of refusing to involve themselves in cases involving “family honor.”  This leads regularly to cases in which women are killed at the hands of avenging male relatives; upon which law enforcement officers shrug their shoulders and murmur that in such cases there is little they can do.  What they really mean is there is little that they want to do.  In truth, the police do not want to involve themselves in these cases because they don’t care about the fate of such women.  It reminds me in some ways of attitudes that used to prevail among law enforcement here regarding domestic violence and rape cases.  There used to be a presumption that if a woman was raped she did something to deserve it.  Similarly, police used to view domestic violence matters as a realm into which they should not venture.

It seems that Israeli policing is about 20 years behind that of other western countries.  And if the attitudes of the Doron Zahavis of Israeli law enforcement continue to prevail they will not advance much or soon.  They say that countries get the leaders they deserve.  In the case of Jerusalem’s Palestinian community, this is definitely not the case.
