  1. You might like to see this piece as well: “Former Chief Justice Arthur Chaskalson writes on Justice Richard Goldstone’s role in South Africa” on the JfJfP website at http://jfjfp.com/?p=12883

You are better than many newspapers. And the better you get, the more information comes your way it seems. Interesting to see how that works.
I always saw the internet as a threat to good journalism, because on the internet, in many cases, rumor rules. But I have come to see that things are not that simple.

    • You know, I’ve found that that’s true. Unfortunately though the more established media still don’t seem very interested in my work despite the fact that I now have some pretty exclusive & explosive sources. Oh well. And thanks for the compliment.

BTW, we ARE a threat to print & conventional journalism because in cases like the ones I’ve been covering lately, where a society attempts to shut down free speech and the free flow of information & ideas, blogs like mine are not bound by those strictures & MSM is. So I publish information which Haaretz can’t. And it’s their loss & the loss of Israeli MSM.

Does the book say anything about any arrangements between Israel and the US regarding who they armed? I ask because I’ve wondered about this–during the Cold War era Israel supplied weapons and training to some of the same unsavory rightwing governments the US supported in the name of anti-communism. Guatemala is a prominent example–some of their slaughters of Mayan Indians were committed with troops carrying Galil rifles. My speculation is that Israel wouldn’t have been messing around in our own backyard without the agreement of the US.

In Africa, South Africa was supporting Savimbi’s group in Angola, as did the United States. Apparently Israel was also involved, from what you say. That’s the kind of thing I’m talking about–Israel seemed to be working hand-in-hand with the US in supporting some really unsavory characters back then.

    • I haven’t read that deeply into the book yet. But my guess is that the U.S. & Israel were deeply intertwined in these affairs & coordinated their involvement, giving plausible deniability to the U.S. which wouldn’t have wanted it known that they were aware what Israel was doing.

Richard, have been able to get to the part of the book that talks about Israel’s offer to sell nuclear warheads to the South African government?

The UK’s Guardian mentions that on their website today:
