I remember the game Colonization by Sid Meier. You had to build colonies and fell trees and Indians in order to win. Maybe there should be a game based on Israeli colonialism.
Some enterprising Likudnik will design a game called “West Bank Conquest,” where the object is to wipe out as many Palestinians either by killing or “transferring” them. The bonus round will enable the player to continue the game in East Jerusalem. The final playoff will be a massacre on the Gaza Strip, and the big prize will be control of the gas reserves off the coast.
Hi Mary,
Astute observation, you should trademark that right now before some crazed settler actually comes up with such a game and will make a killing (pun intended).
emman, are you one of my facebook friends? I think so. Please visit Richard’s blog regularly, we have great comment threads!
I used to love Settlers II which was a real nerdy game based on harvesting resources and managing production chains, there was hardly any combat to it. Very popular in Germany for some reason. Things started to get more aggressive with Settlers IV which spawned the version you see in the post above and the game lost a lot of its charm for me.
Why bother making a game out of it? It’s already on Reality TV.
I wouldn’t know, I don’t own a TV. Pollutes the mind, wastes time and distorts the moral compass.
That would be Sid Meier’s *Civilization.*
Wow, the word is so ironic.
