TNR's slavishly pro Israel line, which was only entrusted to a few writers like Klein Halevy, Chait and Peretz to espouse, became the cancer that corrupted the magazine's intellectual foundations. It led it to loudly support the Iraq war in 2003, a position that dealt TNR's credibility a body blow from which it has never recovered, much like that suffered by the New York Times.

If TNR goes under it will at least show that there is some accountability for those gung ho journalists who so vocally cheered for an immoral, unjust and illegal war. Good riddance I say.

I think George Soros should buy it and turn it back into the magazine it once was.
And he should make Spencer Ackerman the editor.
Problem solved.
