Tikun Olam Nominated for Brass Crescent Award

One of the developments I’m most proud of lately regarding this blog is that it has been nominated in the category of Best Non-Muslim blog for a Brass Crescent Award.  The Brass Crescent Award is an annual Muslim blog competition founded by Aziz Poonawalla, who writes City of Brass.

Especially in light of the Mumbai terror attacks, it is even more critical than ever that we reach out to our Muslim brothers and sisters and make common cause on the issues that draw us together.  There is so much hatred and violence perpetrated by the extremists on both sides…it is critical to embrace our common humanity and the affinities between our religious traditions.

I had no idea I’d been nominated and if I hadn’t checked today to see that a few people had visited this site from the Awards website, I might never have known.

The competition continues until December 19th.  So if you’re so moved I hope you’ll visit and check out the other Muslim blogs featured there and vote for the ones you like (including mine!).  Glenn Greenwald and Juan Cole are among my very worthy competition.
