At an annual fish fry with members of the United Mine Workers in Castlewood, Va., [Biden]…tr[ied] to soothe any worries among those who might be reading all the mailings from the National Rifle Association that label…Barack Obama as a gun owner’s worst enemy:
“I guarantee you, Barack Obama ain’t taking my shotguns. So don’t buy that malarkey,” Mr. Biden said. “They’re going to start peddling that to you.”
Jake Tapper, at ABC News’s “Political Punch” blog fleshes out the Bidenisms, with this elaboration about the senator’s own penchant for “clinging” to his guns: “I got two,” Mr. Biden told the crowd, referring to his arms and then to Mr. Obama. “If he tries to fool with my Beretta, he’s got a problem. I like that little over and under, you know? I’m not bad with it.”

I can just see it now: cancel the vice-presidential debates. Instead, let’s have the V.P. Gunfight at the OK Corral. Biden can bring his Beretta. Palin can bring whatever the hell you shoot moose with. A fair fight. May the best shot win. But if Palin wins I hope she doesn’t try to field dress Biden. Someone should tell her she’s not bagging a moose.
