I find such an address to be condescending & offensive. I am not “you people.” I am an individual. If you choose to address me as a collective, part of a group you assume all share the same values & beliefs, you make a huge mistake (not that you’d care to bother differentiating Jews fr one another since we’re all the enemy anyway).

You can have Israel, or you can have peace, but not both.

I just love it when the Israel nationalists & anti-ZIonist activists talk in virtually the same strident, sweeping terms. There IS a middle ground, but you wouldn’t know it fr. the absolutists on both sides. There CAN be peace bet. Israel and the Palestinians. Israel CAN exist and find peace w. the Palestinians. I’m afraid it will be you who will have to adjust to a reality that includes Israel whether you like it or not. Neither you nor anyone else will sweep Israel off the map of history.

The world will be inflamed until we exercise our right of return

No, the world will be inflamed until the conflict is resolved. The right of return will be dealt with in that resolution. The way it is dealt with will of course not satisfy the extremists on either side. But a compromise will be struck that allows those Palestinians who want peace to say that the right of return was realized, albeit in a truncated fashion. And it will allow Israelis to say that while we compromised on this issue, we did not give Palestinians a right which will threaten or undermine our country.

Unlike us, Jews can emigrate wherever you want. Palestine is our only home

A patently false claim. Palestinians don’t emigrate? Palestinians don’t live in many countries throughout the world? There was a period when hundreds of thousands of Jews could not emigrate “wherever” they wanted. In fact, many millions died precisely because they could not escape the slaughter. That’s precisely why the State of Israel was created.

There will be a time when any Palestinian wishing to return to a Palestinian state will be allowed to return and rebuild their lives there. I’d have hoped that day would’ve come long ago. But due to Israeli intransigence & Palestinian terror, it hasn’t happened yet. But it should.

Palestine may be your home. But Israel is the Israeli home. They will have to learn to live together somehow side by side; or they will die together in an ongoing bloodbath.

I too am anxious & impatient for change and for a unified voice to combat the shellacking inflicted by the Israel lobby on Jewish doves. But I’m prepared to give the organizers all the time they need to get their ducks in a row & flying.
