Congratulations. Seeing the first ultrasound of my first baby was one of the most joyful and memorable experiences of my life.
As far as photographing the screen, the quality of a digital photograph of a CRT is usually poor, because both have different refresh rate/interlace patterns. That said, I’m sure that ultrasound places could make money providing a CD of the ultrasound or better quality prints.
NYC’s A Peek in The Pod (http://www.apeekinthepod.com/)actually provides such services, describing itself thusly:A Peek in the Pod, a Manhattan-based, family-owned company, provides sonography to expectant parents wishing to chronicle their children’s earliest developmental stages.
Our Registerd Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) use state-of-the-art ultrasound technology to conduct the sessions in a relaxing environment. Demonstrating live-action video of the child in the womb, resulting videos and still images are preserved on a variety of high-quality media including photography, CD-ROM and DVD.
Congratulations to you and your family! Best wishes and many good thoughts to all of you.
I couldn’t help but get excited as well, after seeing the ultrasound pix. It reminded me when I saw our child’s profile in the ultrasound for the first time. The kid did not like ultrasound at all and kept turning away from the probe-thingy.
