  1. This is a great article. I am a theology major from Valparaiso University and have just written a book, “Dont’ Kill the Messenger”. I write my understanding of whistleblowers as prophets of what is going on with waste, fraud, and abuse of power. The prophets of old did the same thing and I believe that they are doing similar things for our country as the old prophets did for Israel.

I have been working as a clinical social worker with whistleblowers for 40 years. I talk about this in my new book, “Don’t Kill the Messenger,” which shows how the laws about keeping secrets will not work with persons of conscience who expose waste, fraud and abuse of power in the NSA and other secret organizations.

These “Insiders” as Jack Anderson called them can not be silenced. They will just pay a higher price to blow the whistle. All of us live in fear of governments who watch our every move and we need to know how far the government listens in on us without a warrant.

My newly published book by me a former U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) officer who spent more than 40 years counseling whistleblowers. I describe in startling detail how several American truth-tellers recently put their lives on the line in order to expose major abuses at several federal agencies . . . including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Security Agency and the Department of Defense.
Don’t Kill the Messenger! How America’s Valiant Whistleblowers Risk Everything in Order to Speak Out Against Waste, Fraud and Abuse in Business and Government – recounts the harrowing experiences of nine whistleblowers who found the courage to “go public” with reports of alleged lawbreaking at the highest levels of the U.S. Government.
I am Donald Ray Soeken, Ph.D., whose long career as a counselor and expert witness for some of America’s most high-profile whistleblowers has been featured in the New York Times and Parade Magazine, on CBS 60 Minutes and in numerous other publications, Don’t Kill the Messenger! exhaustively details the personal struggles of 10 whistleblowers.
